School policies cannot intentionally leave parents in the dark about their child\u2019s mental and emotional well-being,\u201d Attorney General Knudsen said in a statement. \u201cThe courts must step in to protect these kids and stop the violation of parental rights at the hands of woke school administrators.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The announcement comes just days after transgender candidate Zooey Zephyr was elected as Montana State Representative for District 100 on Nov 8th. In an interview with PBS NewsHour, Zephyr vowed to \u201cfight like hell\u201d\u00a0 against \u201canti-LGBTQ attacks\u201d such as this parental rights brief.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\"><\/blockquote>\n<p>The parents&#8217; rights organization Parents Defending Education brought <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/parents-rights-group-sues-iowa-school-district-over-student-gender-transition-plans\">a lawsuit against the Iowa public school district<\/a> earlier this year for its policy of adopting a &#8220;Gender Support Plan&#8221; for students without parental knowledge or consent. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/defendinged.org\/lawsuits\/parents-defending-education-files-federal-lawsuit-challenging-linn-mar-community-school-districts-parental-exclusion-and-compelled-speech-policies\/\">lawsuit<\/a>, the policies of Linn-Mar Community School District authorize &#8220;children to make fundamentally important decisions about their gender identity without any parental involvement and to then hide these decisions from parents.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The brief asks the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals to reverse the district court\u2019s decision and grant Parents Defending Education a preliminary injunction against Linn-Mar\u2019s policies because they inflict immediate and irreparable harm on parents by withholding information on their child\u2019s gender identity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWithout question, the decision to transition genders is life-altering. And when a student considers transitioning genders, parents have a fundamental, constitutional right to be involved in that decision-making process,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/content.govdelivery.com\/attachments\/MTAG\/2022\/11\/14\/file_attachments\/2328636\/MT%20Amici%20BRF%20-%20PDE%20v.%20Linn-Mar%20Final.pdf\">the brief<\/a> states. \u201cYet school districts across the country, strong-armed by ideologically driven advocacy groups, have shut parents out of the process and trampled on their fundamental rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The brief also notes that schools \u201croutinely require parental consent before a student can receive medication or participate in certain school activities,\u201d all the while allowing children to change their gender identity, a decision that will likely have a dramatic impact on their future health and well-being, without parental consent.<\/p>\n<p>Attorneys general from Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and West Virginia joined Attorney General Knudsen in filing the brief.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This article was originally published at The Post Millennial, a part of the Human Events Media Group.
