FTX had just loaned their money to Alameda, who had gambled with their money, and lost it?\u2019 Piper asked. \u2018And you didn\u2019t realize it was a big deal because you didn\u2019t realize how much money it was?\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Bankman-Fried responded: \u2018And also thought Alameda had enough collateral to [reasonably] cover it.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It was never the intention,\u2019 he later added. Sometimes life creeps up on you.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>When asked what he would\u2019ve done differently if he got another shot, the FTX owner said he would \u2018off-board Alameda from FTX.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The FTX owner also walked back his previous comments about the importance of ethics and called it a \u2018front.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week Reuters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/technology\/ftx-founder-sam-bankman-fried-attempts-raise-cash-wsj-2022-11-15\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> Bankman-Fried was seeking commitments from investors to raise fresh cash.<\/p>\n<p>The former chief executive and a few remaining employees at FTX have spent the past weekend calling around in search of commitments from investors.<\/p>\n<p>The Wall Street Journal could not determine if any investors have committed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, blamed his ex-girlfriend for the company\u2019s complete collapse and $32 Billion loss.
