Mowry shares two children with Cory Hardrict but said her \u201cawakening\u201d which led to their breakup was entirely self-focused.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI knew when I really started to focus on my happiness,\u201d the former Disney star <a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/popculture\/tia-mowry-divorce-cory-hardrict-reason-why-self-love-rcna57483\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>. \u201cI feel like women, we tend to focus on everybody else\u2019s happiness, making sure that everybody else is OK \u2014 meaning our children, our friends, our family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut at the end of the day, it\u2019s about self-love,\u201d she continued. \u201cWhen you start to really work on yourself, love yourself, know your value and know your worth, then all of a sudden, there\u2019s this awakening. And it\u2019s not easy. It\u2019s a hard journey, but at the end of the day, I feel like it is so, so worth it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mowry also said two deaths in her family, plus being in therapy, helped her realize that her happiness should become a central focus of life.<\/p>\n<p>Mowry explained: \u201cThere was just an \u2018aha\u2019 moment in me where I said, \u2018You know what? We need to tap in, see what\u2019s really going on with your happiness. Life is short. Let\u2019s go. Let\u2019s start working on you and really focusing on what really, really matters here, which is at the end of the day, your peace, your joy, and your happiness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was in therapy, as well,\u201d she added. \u201cI\u2019m a huge fan of therapy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Even though it\u2019s over now, Mowry claims her 14-year marriage was a success and that her divorce is like a \u201cgraduation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy marriage was a success,\u201d she told Today. \u201cI look at it as like a curriculum when you\u2019re in college or high school. You\u2019re learning, you\u2019re growing, you\u2019re evolving, you\u2019re creating. I was able to create with Cory some beautiful, amazing children. At the end of that curriculum, there\u2019s a graduation, there\u2019s a celebration. So that\u2019s basically how I\u2019m looking at it now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I feel like \u2026 when (people) look at marriage, success equals longevity. But, no, at the end of the day, it\u2019s are they happy? Are they thriving? Are they growing? I feel like that is what is most important. It\u2019s not about staying in something because however long you are in that situation that equals success. It\u2019s about really, again, are you happy?
