But Democrats already used the vote-buying scheme to sway young Americans\u2019 votes last week, and now they\u2019re blaming the plan\u2019s blatant <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/24\/bidens-student-loan-forgiveness-is-an-unjust-cynical-abuse-of-power\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unconstitutionality<\/a> on Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>The federal court\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/11\/14\/federal-court-blocks-bidens-student-loan-forgiveness-nationwide\/?utm_source=piano&#038;utm_medium=email&#038;utm_campaign=breaking&#038;pnespid=saV9VDhObqADheLEujTkFpeOvx7xXYBrcuOzz_Az8kRm_ANgSkxmjLy0oKN0TS9T8ZVe20hAvg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">injunction<\/a> deemed that the loan bailout \u201cpresents a threatened financial harm\u201d to the states that sued the Biden administration over it, enough to temporarily bar the program from implementation. The injunction follows a separate <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.txnd.368635\/gov.uscourts.txnd.368635.37.0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">decision<\/a> by a U.S. District Court in Texas last week, which found that the HEROES Act of 2003 \u2014 a post-9\/11 law that the Biden administration cited in its attempt to legally justify the program \u2014 \u201cdoes not provide the executive branch clear congressional authorization to create a $400 billion student loan forgiveness program.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The injunction will stay \u201cuntil further order\u201d from the Eighth Circuit Court or the U.S. Supreme Court,\u201d the court said.<\/p>\n<p>This puts a temporary halt to Biden\u2019s student loan bailout plan <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/31\/republicans-should-bring-back-college-debt-bankruptcy-and-heres-why\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> in August. The program planned to \u201cforgive\u201d up to $10,000 in federal student loan debt ($20,000 for Pell Grant recipients) \u2014 a euphemism for dumping the bill for <a href=\"https:\/\/budgetmodel.wharton.upenn.edu\/issues\/2022\/8\/23\/forgiving-student-loans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hundreds of billions of dollars<\/a> in student debt onto taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>Despite knowing this <a href=\"https:\/\/thecollegeinvestor.com\/35892\/is-student-loan-forgiveness-by-executive-order-legal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">illegal<\/a> program would likely be stopped in its tracks by the courts, since a president does not have the authority to unilaterally issue a loan forgiveness program, the Biden administration made its announcement just before a major midterm election, apparently hoping to appeal to many young voters who thought they would have part of their student debt \u201ccanceled.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Exit polling data for the 2022 midterm election <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/midterm-election\/2022\/11\/09\/exit-poll-generation-z-millennials-break-big-for-democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">suggests<\/a> 63 percent of voters aged 18-29 cast ballots for Democrats. At the same time, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intelligent.com\/1-in-5-democrats-wont-vote-for-biden-in-2024-if-he-doesnt-forgive-student-loans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1 in 5<\/a> Democrats said in a recent survey that they would only support Biden in 2024 if he \u201ccanceled\u201d student debt.<\/p>\n<p>Now that the judicial system has inevitably highlighted the unconstitutionality of the program, however, Democrat politicians like Sen. Elizabeth Warren have seized the opportunity to blame Republicans.
