The rule, among other restrictions, outlaws magazines that hold more than 10 rounds\u2014similar to rules that have been implemented in New York, California, and other Democrat-controlled states.<\/p>\n<p>Several county sheriffs have publicly announced they won\u2019t enforce the law or parts of the law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe biggest thing is this does absolutely nothing to address the problem,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-sheriff\">Sheriff<\/a> Cody Bowen of Union County <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/oregon-sheriffs-enforce-new-gun-law-infringes-second-amendment\">told<\/a> Fox News on Tuesday. \u201cThe problem that we have is not\u2026 magazine capacity. It\u2019s not background checks. It\u2019s a problem with mental health awareness. It\u2019s a problem with behavior health illness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bowen added that \u201csociety as a whole is a bigger problem rather than saying that, you know, the guns are killing people.\u201d Union County, which is sparsely populated, is located in northeastern Oregon near the Idaho border.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s just no way possible for us to enforce that and nor would I simply because it\u2019s an infringement on our Second Amendment, you know, our right to keep and bear arms,\u201d he said, adding that it won\u2019t reduce shootings in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Malheur County Sheriff Brian Wolfe stated that he won\u2019t enforce the magazine limit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think this is superseding anything. I don\u2019t believe that I am superseding state law by not enforcing it. Anybody in law enforcement, including the state police, including the governor, has to pick and choose what laws they are going to be able to enforce,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/nbc16.com\/news\/local\/some-oregon-sheriffs-vow-not-to-enforce-parts-of-gun-control-measure\">told<\/a> local media.<\/p>\n<p>Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/LinnSheriff\/posts\/508638451288166\">wrote<\/a> on Nov. 9 in a Facebook post that she wants \u201cto send a clear message to Linn County residents that the Linn County Sheriff\u2019s Office is NOT going to be enforcing magazine capacity limits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis measure is poorly written and there is still a lot that needs to be sorted out regarding the permitting process, who has to do the training and what exactly does the training have to cover,\u201d Duncan said, writing that the measure should face an \u201cimmediate lawsuit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to an <a href=\"https:\/\/a57.foxnews.com\/static.foxnews.com\/foxnews.com\/content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/720\/405\/measure-114-map.jpg?ve=1&#038;tl=1\">analysis<\/a> of what counties voted on the gun-control measure, voters in only six Oregon counties out of 36 favored it.
