Now ex-Steelers coach Bill Cowher is blasting the team, calling the hire \u201ca disgrace to the coaching profession.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">Last week, the Colts fired coach Frank Reich and put Saturday in his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/news\/colts-fire-reich-former-player-saturday-named-as-interim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">place<\/a> as interim coach.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The move shocked the NFL because Saturday is the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/nfl\/news\/colts-hiring-of-jeff-saturday-rankles-nfl-coaches-executives-due-to-lack-of-experience-hiring-process\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first<\/a> head coach to be hired in the league since 1961 who has no collegiate or pro coaching experience.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday insisted that he was ready for the challenge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">\u201cI\u2019ve seen great leadership and I\u2019ve learned a lot,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/news\/saturday-faces-daunting-task-in-preparing-colts-for-raiders\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">he said<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m a leader of men, I don\u2019t shy away from it and I\u2019m excited about it. That\u2019s my passion and I love it. Football just so happens to fit that mold. But that\u2019s what I love. When I can do the two things I love, I can lead a group of men and coach football, I\u2019m not going to say no to that.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>But all this doesn\u2019t impress Cowher.<\/p>\n<p>Appearing on CBS\u2019 \u201cNFL Today,\u201d the coach with 15 years of NFL experience blasted the Colts\u2019 move.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know for a fact that Jeff Saturday was offered an opportunity to become an assistant coach with the Indianapolis Colts multiple times in the last four years. He declined, citing he had a TV job and wanted to spend more time with his family,\u201d Cowher exclaimed. \u201cI get it. Coaching is about commitment and it\u2019s about sacrifice. It\u2019s not just a job, it\u2019s a lifestyle.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;It&#8217;s a disgrace to the coaching profession.&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CowherCBS?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@CowherCBS<\/a>&#8216;s emotional reaction to the Colts hiring Jeff Saturday. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/B8QCSJZpPW\">pic.twitter.com\/B8QCSJZpPW<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NFL on CBS \ud83c\udfc8 (@NFLonCBS) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NFLonCBS\/status\/1591846601328246784?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 13, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">Cowher was not very pleased with Saturday for jumping over so many other qualified candidates.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cJeff Saturday talked about in his first press conference that he\u2019s going to use the second half as an opportunity to build his r\u00e9sum\u00e9 to see whether or not he can coach in the future. I say to that, what about the assistants on the staff right now?\u201d Cowher railed. \u201cThe guys that were there in training camp. The guys that were there early in the morning and late at night.
