Abbott exited the network abruptly after he refused to air a commercial for the wedding planning site Zola that featured two women kissing. He claimed he just wanted to make a career change, but now he\u2019s building a rival network to rival the more left-leaning Hallmark.<\/p>\n<p>Abbott and Bure spoke about how GAF <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/movies\">movie<\/a> messaging would differ from Hallmark\u2019s.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them,\u201d Bure told The Wall Street Journal in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/candace-cameron-bure-great-american-family-11668205295\">interview<\/a>. \u201cI knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 46-year-old actress told the publication that Hallmark essentially became \u201ca completely different network\u201d than when she signed on due to a \u201cchange of leadership.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Notably, Hallmark has been developing more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/lgbtq\">LGBTQ<\/a> storylines, including the first original holiday movie focused on a same-sex couple called \u201cThe Holiday Sitter,\u201d which premieres December 11.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The network had included gay characters in their films before but never as the main storyline. Following intense pressure from LGBTQ advocacy groups, the company committed to adding this type of content and \u201ccreating a Hallmark experience where everyone feels welcome.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Things are different at GAF. While Bure didn\u2019t rule out same-sex romance in the movies, the actress confirmed it\u2019s not emphasized at her new home network like at Hallmark.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core,\u201d she said. Abbott agreed, saying, \u201cIt\u2019s certainly the year 2022, so we\u2019re aware of the trends. There\u2019s no whiteboard that says, \u2018Yes, this\u2019 or \u2018No, we\u2019ll never go here.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bure, who is known as a key player in the popular and lucrative Christmas movie genre, made waves when she announced her intention to leave Hallmark for the Great American Country channel, which was later rebranded as GAF.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very excited to develop heartwarming family and faith-filled programming and make the kind of stories my family and I love to watch,\u201d Bure shared in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/full-house-star-candace-cameron-bure-to-create-and-star-in-faith-filled-wholesome-content-for-the-whole-family\">statement<\/a> in April. \u201cI am constantly looking for ways that I can inspire people to live life with purpose.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGAC fits my brand perfectly,\u201d she continued. \u201cWe share a vision of creating compelling wholesome content for an audience who wants to watch programming for and with the whole family.
