This was a gift to me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/newsletters?cmpid=fnfirstnl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In August 2021, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/christina-applegate-diagnosed-multiple-sclerosis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">&#8220;Married\u2026with Children&#8221; alum revealed<\/a> that she had been diagnosed with MS, a chronic disease that affects the brain and central nervous system, a few months earlier.<\/p>\n<p>Applegate was in the middle of filming the last season of &#8220;Dead to Me&#8221; when she received her diagnosis. Production on the show was halted for about five months while she began treatment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I got diagnosed while we were working, and I had to call everybody and be like, &#8220;I have multiple sclerosis, guys. Like, what the f&#8211;k!&#8221;, she said.<\/p>\n<p>Applegate continued, &#8220;And then it was about kind of learning \u2014 all of us learning \u2014 what I was going to be capable of doing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It had to be cold, because heat is our kryptonite. Can\u2019t work those 18-hour days, you know? It was impossible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She told the outlet that the cast and crew rallied around her and were &#8220;so loving.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If I called them in the morning, and was like, &#8220;Guys, I can\u2019t get down the stairs,&#8221; they were like, &#8220;OK! We won\u2019t do today. We\u2019ll do other stuff.&#8221; Netflix even let us take a break for a couple of months so that I could mourn, and find treatment,&#8221; Applegate said.<\/p>\n<p>The Emmy Award winner said that the pain she was experiencing while filming will be apparent to viewers of &#8220;Dead to Me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You can see the struggle, and you can see it through the whole season,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Applegate explained that she hasn&#8217;t watched the final season and doesn&#8217;t think she will because it would &#8220;too hard&#8221; for her. However, she was determined to finish the show despite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/selma-blair-christina-applegate-multiple-sclerosis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">how difficult it was <\/a>for her.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I couldn\u2019t have done it without this\u00a0<i>need<\/i>\u00a0to tell our story,&#8221; she said. &#8220;They were gonna pull the plug, you know? Because it was\u00a0like torture \u2014\u00a0and they felt like they were torturing me, too. But I was like, &#8220;No, no, no, no, no, <i>no<\/i>: We have to finish this story.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She continued &#8220;It\u2019s too important to our hearts; too important to our souls. And we have to give this gift, not only to ourselves \u2014 there are people that love these characters, and we\u2019ve got to let them have their closure too.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Applegate said that her future in acting depends on &#8220;what I\u2019m capable of doing.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019m so new in this right now,&#8221; she added. &#8220;It takes time to kind of figure out this disease, and figure out what\u2019s bringing on symptoms. I\u2019m just a newbie to all of this. So I\u2019m trying to figure it out \u2014 and I\u2019m also in mourning for the person that I was.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have to find a place that\u2019s as loving as my set was, where they won\u2019t think I\u2019m a diva by saying, &#8216;Hey, I can only work five hours.'&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She told Variety that she has ruled out ever taking on another lead role again given how challenging it was to complete filming on &#8220;Dead to Me.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019m pretty convinced that this was it, you know? Barraza \/ WENN)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019d like to develop stuff, I\u2019d like to produce stuff,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I\u2019ve got a lot of ideas in my mind, and I just need to get them executed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Applegate told the New York Times that she had gained 40 pounds since her diagnosis and could no longer walk without using a cane.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/newsletters?cmpid=fnfirstnl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><u>CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT NEWSLETTER<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is the first time anyone&#8217;s going to see me the way I am. I put on 40 pounds; I can&#8217;t walk without a cane. I want people to know that I am very aware of all of that,&#8221; she said &#8220;If people hate it, if people love it, if all they can concentrate on is, \u2018Ooh, look at the cripple,\u2019 that\u2019s not up to me. I\u2019m sure that people are going to be, like, \u2018I can\u2019t get past it.\u2019&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Applegate is set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Nov. 14. The ceremony, which was originally set to take place in 2020, will be<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/christina-applegate-says-important-ceremony-first-time-out-since-ms-diagnosis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> her first public appearance <\/a>since being diagnosed with MS.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, she announced on Twitter that she was receiving the honor, which she said was &#8220;a childhood dream.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Now my life is a different story,&#8221; she told Variety. &#8220;People are going to see me for the first time as a disabled person, and it\u2019s very difficult. So, for me, two years ago would have been so much better!&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Applegate paused before adding, &#8220;But maybe this time it\u2019s more poignant.
