Version: 4.0.47--><p>President Joe Biden admitted that he could not \u201cguarantee\u201d that his administration would be able to stop rising <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-inflation\">inflation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2022\/11\/09\/remarks-by-president-biden-in-press-conference-8\/\">comments<\/a> on inflation came a day after the midterm elections.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that he will stay the course\u00a0and do \u201cnothing\u201d differently for the next two years of his term in office.<\/p>\n<p>A reporter, at a White House press conference on Nov. 9, asked what he could \u201cpromise concretely in these next two years that will help turn the pocketbook for the better in the midst of\u00a0staving off a recession,\u201d according to Fox News.<\/p>\n<p>The president responded, \u201cWhat I can\u2019t do is, I can\u2019t guarantee that we\u2019re going to be able to get rid of inflation, but I do think we can, we\u2019ve already brought down the price of gasoline about a dollar a gallon across the board.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He accused American oil companies of \u201creally doing the nation a real disservice,\u201d and accused them of exploiting high <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-energy-prices\">energy prices<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019ve made, six of them made over a hundred billion dollars in the last quarter in profit,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n<h2>Inflation Continues To Hit Voters<\/h2>\n<p>Meanwhile, annual inflation rates hit 7.75 percent for October, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/cpi.nr0.htm\">according to the Consumer Price Index,<\/a> while core prices, which exclude food and energy, rose by 6.28 percent over the previous year.<\/p>\n<p>At the start of Biden\u2019s term, the price index was growing at a 1.4 percent annualized basis.<\/p>\n<p>We are making progress on bringing inflation down, without giving up all of the progress we have made on economic growth and job creation,\u00a0\u201d Biden said in a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/11\/10\/statement-by-president-joe-biden-on-the-october-consumer-price-index-report\/\"> statement regarding the October inflation report.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy economic plan is showing results, and the American people can see that we are facing global economic challenges from a position of strength.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also said that he would \u201coppose any effort to undo my agenda or to make inflation worse\u201d and that the country is \u201con the right path.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Biden Refuses To Change Course, As Red Wave Fails To Materialize<\/h2>\n<p>Biden also said that he was satisfied with the fact that a red wave failed to materialize against widespread expectations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, we had an election day yesterday, and I think it was a good day for democracy\u2014and I think it was a good day for America,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur democracy has been tested in recent years, but with their votes, the American people have spoken and proven once again that democracy is who we are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile we don\u2019t know all the results yet, at least I don\u2019t know them all yet, here\u2019s what we do know\u2014the press and the pundits were predicting a\u00a0giant red wave\u2014it didn\u2019t happen,\u201d Biden continued.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">When asked about what his administration would do to alleviate the concerns of voters on the direction of the country, the president responded,\u00a0\u201cnothing, because they\u2019re just finding out what we\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to a recent survey, 75\u00a0percent of Americans\u00a0believe that the country is headed in the wrong direction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe more they know about what we\u2019re doing, the more support there is,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Biden declared that he would not \u201cchange the direction\u201d of his policies, while he described a list of what he sees are the major achievements of his presidency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you know anybody who wants us to get rid of the change we made on prescription drug prices and raise prices again?\u201d\u00a0Biden said in a retort.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you know anybody who wants us to walk away from building those roads and bridges and the internet and so on?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said I ran for three reasons. I\u2019m going to continue to stay where I am.
