Romney (R-UT) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/republicans-gop-midterms-election-fraud-voter-suppression-inflation-coal-energy-gas-climate-change-national-debt-immigrants-11668099069\">urged<\/a> the cuts in a November 10\u00a0<em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> op-ed, where he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2022\/05\/24\/goldman-sachs-import-workers-to-cut-wages-by-100-billion\/\">echoed<\/a> Goldman Sachs\u2019 May demand for more migration to cut inflation by cutting wages:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Exit polls of voters confirmed that inflation remains a top voter concern. Midterm campaigns largely focused on assigning blame for rising prices. Now \u2026 Congress can actually help by increasing legal immigration [and] expanding the number of work visas in sectors that face worker shortages.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In May, Goldman Sachs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2022\/05\/24\/goldman-sachs-import-workers-to-cut-wages-by-100-billion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">argued<\/a> that President Donald Trump\u2019s 2020\u00a0migration cuts ensured that \u201cthe substantial gap between the number of workers and the number of jobs \u2026\u00a0 has led to wage growth of 5 1\/2% over the last year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/publishing.gs.com\/content\/research\/en\/reports\/2022\/04\/03\/815d34f9-63ba-4987-8008-2fa7db2b00de.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">estimated\u00a0<\/a>that the [worker] gap would need to close by around 2 \u00bd million [extra migrants] to return wage growth to the 4-4\u00bd% range,\u201d or roughly $100 billion lower, Goldman Sachs declared.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">Romney worked alongside Goldman Sachs in the finance sector for many years before getting elected to Massachusetts governorship and losing the 2012 presidential election.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cHe is completely out of out of touch, as out-of-touch as all of the elite Democrats in Hollywood,\u201d responded Rosemary Jenks, the\u00a0government relations<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>director for NumbersUSA. She told Breitbart News:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n[Landslide Gov.] Ron DeSantis has very strong positions on immigration. [Newly elected] J.D. Vance \u2026 [and] Ted Budd have strong positions on immigration. There\u2019s no evidence anywhere that taking the right stance on immigration hurt any [candidate] \u2026<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A\u00a0 YouGov poll in February <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/02\/18\/poll-public-dunks-democrat-plan-to-cut-inflation-by-raising-migration\/\">asked<\/a>\u00a01,500 <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.cdn.yougov.com\/mfe5ie0pbd\/econTabReport.pdf\">citizens<\/a>: \u201cDo you think the following measures intended to reduce inflation are a good idea or a bad idea? \u2026. Increase immigration to reduce worker shortages?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Just 27 percent of registered voters agreed that importing workers to reduce inflation is a good idea, including 45 percent of President Joe Biden\u2019s 2020 voters. Fifty percent of registered voters said it was a \u201cbad idea,\u201d including 83 percent of President Donald Trump\u2019s 2020 voters. Since February, Americans\u2019 wages have fallen further, amid Biden\u2019s cheap-labor migration and rising inflation.<\/p>\n<p>Romney\u2019s support for more visa workers also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/11\/11\/investors-revive-push-amnesty-lower-wages\/\">threatens<\/a> to crash the accelerating automation of specialty crops, such as apples and strawberries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">Romney did not mention the massive wave of illegal migration that has been invited by President Joe Biden\u2019s border chief, Alejandro Mayorkas.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Romney was one of six GOP Senators who voted to confirm Mayorkas, who has since delivered roughly 3 million blue-collar and white-collar illegals into U.S. housing and labor markets. The extra inflow is in addition to the regular annual inflow of roughly 1 million legal immigrants and roughly 500,000 visa workers.<\/p>\n<p>Mayorkas\u2019 wave of illegal migrants has helped to cut inflation because it shrivels Americans\u2019 ability to negotiate decent wages with their employers and the investors.<\/p>\n<p>But Mayorkas\u2019 migration also raised inflation by driving up the price of houses, rents, used cars, and myriad retail items.<\/p>\n<p>Romney\u2019s op-ed also declared: \u201cWe need new legal immigrants\u2014at least a million a year to keep the population from declining.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">\u201cThe population is still growing \u2014 where does he want to put all these [extra] people?\u201d Jenks responded.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The inflow of migrants also spikes government spending by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/10\/25\/washpost-legalize-more-migrants-to-take-american-jobs-in-florida\/\">pushing<\/a> more Americans onto the economic sidelines and into welfare and aid programs.\u00a0Yet Romney complained that the increased government spending is boosting inflation:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"css-xbvutc-Paragraph e3t0jlg0\">Rather, it is automatic \u201cnondiscretionary\u201d spending on entitlements, such as Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid, and on servicing the debt. It\u2019s this spending that is growing faster than the economy \u2026 Excessive spending not only adds to the national debt, it is highly stimulative and inflationary.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"css-xbvutc-Paragraph e3t0jlg0\">Romney\u2019s understanding of immigration economics \u201cis\u00a0embarrassing for him, but it\u2019s tragic for the rest of us,\u201d Jenks added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-xbvutc-Paragraph e3t0jlg0\">Since Trump\u2019s immigration curbs expanded wages for ordinary Americans, immigration reforms are a core demand of the GOP\u2019s base.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-xbvutc-Paragraph e3t0jlg0\">The CNN exit polls in the 2022 midterms <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PollProjectUSA\/status\/1590113464252784641?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1590113464252784641%7Ctwgr%5E99e81d9d252c5d8667b03d28d8e791f676421c0b%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&#038;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Fimmigration%2F2022%2F11%2F08%2Fexit-poll-joe-bidens-migration-moved-voters-to-gop%2F\">showed<\/a> that immigration was the top\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2022\/11\/08\/exit-poll-joe-bidens-migration-moved-voters-to-gop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">issue<\/a>\u00a0for one-in-seven Republican voters. Immigration was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2022\/11\/08\/exit-poll-joe-bidens-migration-moved-voters-to-gop\/\">deemed<\/a>\u00a0more important than crime, abortion, or gun rights, and was ranked second in importance after inflation. Immigration was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/elections\/2022\/midterm-results\/voter-analysis?utm_source=substack&#038;utm_medium=email\">tied<\/a> with abortions as the second-most important issue in a Fox News poll of more than 100,000 people which was taken from October 31 to Nov 8.<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-xbvutc-Paragraph e3t0jlg0\">Romney\u2019s op-ed did include one interesting anecdote about immigration politics within the Democratic Party:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"css-xbvutc-Paragraph e3t0jlg0\">\u00a0I asked a leading Democrat why his party hasn\u2019t acted to secure the border, especially since its failure to do so gives my party a huge advantage in swing states such as Arizona and Nevada. His answer: \u201cYou don\u2019t understand the power of the immigration lobby.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"css-xbvutc-Paragraph e3t0jlg0\">That lobby has encouraged hundreds of thousands of migrants to take their children through Panama\u2019s jungle, where thousands of migrants have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/immigration\/2022\/11\/06\/border-closure-dams-mayorkas-flood-of-venezuelans\/\">died<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Hamleisy and Hamleisky Ortega, of Venezuela, traveling hand-in-hand through the Dari\u00e9n Gap, trying to make it to the United States. <\/p>\n<p>They brought with them their pet turtle, called Tuga. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/7n39INmkpm\">pic.twitter.com\/7n39INmkpm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 julieturkewitz (@julieturkewitz) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/julieturkewitz\/status\/1590815147635150848?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 10, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Republican Senator Mitt Romney wants to cut inflation by cutting Americans\u2019 wages, including the wages earned by the GOP\u2019s own voters.
