The tech giant also pushed the time that workers in the office qualified for a free dinner back by 30 minutes to 6:30 p.m., after the last shuttle of the day left, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, a Meta spokesperson told the Times the moves were to &#8220;better reflect the needs of our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/lifestyle\/zoom-ceo-eric-yuan-discusses-hybrid-work-panel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hybrid work force<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Protocol also reported in March that Meta eliminated its valet parking service, a step that a spokesperson reportedly said was part of efforts to curb emissions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meta did not respond to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FOX Business<\/a>&#8216; requests for comment.<\/p>\n<div class=\"featured featured-video video-ct\">\n<div class=\"contain\">\n<div class=\"info\">\n<div class=\"caption\">\n<p>Tigress Financial Partners CIO and director of research Ivan Feinseth provides insight on the technology sector on &#8216;Making Money.&#8217;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In the memo announcing the layoffs, Zuckerberg said the company would also be &#8220;cutting discretionary spending&#8221; and &#8220;extending our hiring freeze through Q1 with a small number of exceptions.&#8221; Meta plans to focus on &#8220;high priority growth areas&#8221; including the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/technology\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AI discovery engine<\/a>, ads and business platforms, and the metaverse, according to the CEO.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Recruitment teams will be &#8220;disproportionately affected&#8221; by the layoffs due to plans to &#8220;hire fewer people next year,&#8221; Zuckerberg said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/markets\/meta-platforms-misses-eps-signals-bearish-hiring-2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>META PLATFORMS MISSES ON EPS, SIGNALS BEARISH HIRING IN 2023<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the tech company&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/category\/earnings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">third-quarter earnings call<\/a> last month, Zuckerberg said Meta expected to &#8220;end 2023 as either roughly the same size or even a slightly smaller organization than we are today&#8221; in aggregate.
