The White House is reportedly \u201cgiddy\u201d and \u201cgleeful\u201d to have <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/11\/09\/midterm-winners-and-losers-and-why-giddy-white-house-should-worry\/\">avoided electoral disaster <\/a>despite high inflation, widespread concern about crime and the natural tendency for midterm elections to favor the party out of power.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans are not so giddy, to say the least. <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/11\/09\/heres-how-donald-trump-sabotaged-the-republican-midterms\/\">When analyzing what went wrong<\/a>, the GOP shouldn\u2019t overlook how President Joe Biden blatantly bribed some young voters to save him from the red wave \u2014 and they don\u2019t even need the cash.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s right: The kids actually did show up to vote this time around. Per the Edison Research National Election Pool\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/circle.tufts.edu\/2022-election-center\">exit polling<\/a>, 27% of eligible voters aged 18 to 29 cast ballots. That makes this the second-highest youth turnout in a midterm in nearly 30 years. And Edison estimates that in key competitive states, the youth turnout was even higher, around 31%.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/biden-student-loan-bailout-186.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/biden-student-loan-bailout-186.jpg\" alt=\"Younger voters have been flocking to the polls in recent years.\" class=\"wp-image-24611095\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/biden-student-loan-bailout-186.jpg?quality=75&#038;strip=all&#038;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/biden-student-loan-bailout-186.jpg?quality=75&#038;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/biden-student-loan-bailout-186.jpg?quality=75&#038;strip=all&#038;w=512 512w\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Polling reports that 27% of eligible voters 18-29 voted in the midterms. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Predictably, Democrats swept this voting block by a huge margin. But the gap was even bigger than most expected. Per the same exit polls, 63% of young voters voted for Democrats, a clear majority, whereas all other age groups were closely divided. And in the closest races that ultimately may make the difference, young voters swung even more heavily in favor of the Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>In Pennsylvania, for example, John Fetterman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2022-elections\/pennsylvania-senate-results\">won 70% of the youth vote<\/a> compared with Dr. Mehmet Oz\u2019s 28%. In Arizona, Mark Kelly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2022-elections\/arizona-senate-results\">claimed 76% of this demographic<\/a> while his Trump-backed challenger, Blake Masters, got just 20%.<\/p>\n<p>In such a close election, the youth vote may well have made all the difference. \u201cIf not for voters under 30,\u201d as Harvard pollster John Della Volpe <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dellavolpe\/status\/1590190476334096386\">remarked<\/a> on election night, \u201ctonight <em>would<\/em> have been a Red Wave.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n\t<\/aside>\n<p>So why did young voters show up in droves and skew so far to the left this time around?<\/p>\n<p>Abortion ballot measures and Roe v. Wade\u2019s overturn may prove to be the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/11\/09\/big-wins-for-abortion-in-four-states-post-roe-referenda\/\">biggest single factor<\/a>. But we can\u2019t ignore the fact Biden, through his unilateral student-debt forgiveness initiative, attempted to funnel billions of dollars directly into the pockets of young people just a few months before the election. <\/p>\n<p>That timing was not coincidental \u2014 and certainly seems to have bought his party some of their votes.<\/p>\n<p>The president admitted as much in his reaction to Tuesday\u2019s results: \u201cI especially want to thank the young people of this nation, who I\u2019m told \u2014 I haven\u2019t seen the numbers \u2014 voted in historic numbers again\u201d to \u201ccontinue addressing the climate crisis, gun violence, their personal rights and freedoms and the student-debt relief.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/biden-student-loan-bailout-185.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/biden-student-loan-bailout-185.jpg\" alt=\"Fetterman defeated Dr. Oz by 4% Tuesday.\" class=\"wp-image-24611096\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/biden-student-loan-bailout-185.jpg?quality=75&#038;strip=all&#038;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/biden-student-loan-bailout-185.jpg?quality=75&#038;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/11\/biden-student-loan-bailout-185.jpg?quality=75&#038;strip=all&#038;w=512 512w\" \/><\/a><figcaption>John Fetterman won Pennsylvania with 70% of the youth vote. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">REUTERS<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The president isn\u2019t just speculating. A late October Harvard <a href=\"https:\/\/iop.harvard.edu\/fall-2022-harvard-youth-poll\">survey<\/a> of youth voters found 9% viewed student-debt relief their first or second priority, a small percentage but enough to make a real difference.<\/p>\n<p>A massive 45% listed inflation as their priority. This ties into student-debt relief because, according to Intelligent.com\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.based-politics.com\/2022\/11\/10\/travel-drugs-alcohol-survey-shows-how-biden-student-loan-bailout-recipients-will-spend-extra-money\/\">recent polling<\/a>, many beneficiaries of the Biden bailout plan to use the extra money in their monthly budget to pay their other bills.<\/p>\n<p>More than half plan to buy new clothes with the Biden bucks, while a whopping 46% of prospective beneficiaries say they\u2019ll use the extra cash to dine out or go on vacation. With surprising candor, 28% even admitted they\u2019ll use it to buy drugs or alcohol! <\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n\t<\/aside>\n<p>Clearly, these struggling young Americans were sorely and desperately in need of taxpayer-funded relief.<\/p>\n<p>Just kidding. In fact, only 28% of respondents said their student loans were very negatively impacting their lives. On the other hand, 40% said they weren\u2019t struggling with their student loans <em>at all<\/em> \u2014 but they\u2019ll still take the \u201cfree\u201d money, of course.<\/p>\n<p>So why wouldn\u2019t they reward ol\u2019 Uncle Joe with a vote after he helped them cover their next batch of edibles and their spring break trip?<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/24\/bidens-bribe-to-the-affluent-student-loan-forgiveness\/\">student-debt \u201ccancellation\u201d<\/a> surely had a significant effect on boosting the youth turnout. This might be smart politics, but it has jaw-dropping ramifications. After all, even Democrats like Nancy Pelosi had admitted that the president didn\u2019t have the constitutional authority to enact his bailout unilaterally without Congress.
