That short list is topped by the Porsche 911, which has appreciated by 5.7% and the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, with a 2.5% increase in value over the last three years.<\/p>\n<p>While used-car prices are beginning to ease, they remain 2% higher than a year ago, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/11\/10\/heres-the-inflation-breakdown-for-october-2022-in-one-chart.html\">latest inflation reading<\/a> from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"ArticleBody-subtitle\">Average new car price is up 8.4% from a year ago<\/h2>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>The cost of new cars also has been climbing through the pandemic-induced inventory shortages.<\/p>\n<p>While increases are easing, new vehicle prices are 8.4% higher than they were a year ago, according to the inflation data. The average price in October was roughly $45,600, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jdpower.com\/business\/press-releases\/jd-power-lmc-automotive-forecast-october-2022#:~:text=The%20Total%20Sales%20Forecast,increase%20of%2010.9%25%20from%202021.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent joint estimate<\/a> from J.D. Average monthly payments on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/11\/03\/how-your-credit-score-affects-the-cost-to-finance-a-car.html\">auto loans<\/a> are an estimated $711, up $47 from a year ago, according to the J.D. Power\/LMC forecast.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The increase in monthly loan payments would be even greater were it not for the continued strength of used-vehicle prices, which increases the amount of trade-in equity,&#8221; said Thomas King, president of the data and analytics division at J.D.
