But I want to focus on the fact that we still have races out there \u2014 what we have won and what we have yet to win.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s shameful being the United States of America that we have states with officials who can\u2019t seem to get their act together to count the votes so we can know the result, at least by the next day, barring anything unusual. When you can\u2019t do your job, it\u2019s your problem that you engender doubt. People shouldn\u2019t have to wait weeks to get a result, and you should not be counting mail-in ballots ad infinitum. That has to be number one on the hit parade of things to address if we are going to secure our ballots into the future.<\/p>\n<p>Why is it in the critical states like Nevada or Arizona \u2014 where the results are going to make such a difference \u2014 those also are coincidentally the states who seem to have issues with counting? Because they still have thousands of mail-in ballots flooding in. It isn\u2019t just Nevada and Arizona, but we\u2019re also seeing it in California as well with the outstanding races. That\u2019s the reason we don\u2019t know the final count yet.<\/p>\n<p>My colleague Cameron Arcand broke down some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/redstate.com\/carcand\/2022\/11\/11\/your-friday-update-heres-why-the-arizona-races-might-shift-drastically-soon-n657561\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ballot drops that are still going on in Arizona. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>As we know the critical races still out there for control of the Senate are Arizona and Nevada, then the run-off in Georgia to come in December.<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to break down where we are in terms of the numbers in the House and where the leads were for Democrats and Republicans at this point. I\u2019m working off <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/elections\/live_results\/2022\/house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the list from RealClearPolitics<\/a> and will note where Decision Desk has already called the race. The current number according to RCP is Republicans 211, and Democrats 197. The Republicans need 218 to have the majority, so we need 7 more. I list the district and then who has the lead presently, Democrats (D) or Republicans (R).<\/p>\n<p>Arizona<br \/>1 D<br \/>6 Ciscomani (R) 51-49 (called by Decision Desk)<\/p>\n<p>California<br \/>13 R<br \/>15 D<br \/>21 D<br \/>22 R<br \/>26 D<br \/>27 R<br \/>3 R<br \/>34 D<br \/>41 R<br \/>45 R<br \/>47 D<br \/>49 D<br \/>6 D<br \/>9 D<\/p>\n<p>Colorado<br \/>3 R<\/p>\n<p>MD<br \/>6 R<\/p>\n<p>Maine<br \/>2 D<\/p>\n<p>New Mexico<br \/>2 D<\/p>\n<p>Nevada<br \/>3 D<\/p>\n<p>NY<br \/>22 R<\/p>\n<p>OR<br \/>5 R<br \/>6 D<\/p>\n<p>WA<\/p>\n<p>3 D<\/p>\n<p>So if the Republicans hold all those leads, they would have 11 additional seats \u2014 so 222, as a possibility, with Democrats at 211. NY and FL had 4 pickups each, so far, so those states helped to keep the Republicans\u2019 hopes afloat.
