But assuming that discrepancy can be explained by the Democrats\u2019 get-out-the-vote machine and other factors, Americans have bigger doubts \u2014 namely that three days after polls closed, voters still don\u2019t know who controls the House of Representatives and the Senate, nor who will govern several western states. Thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/11\/08\/heres-a-list-of-counties-reporting-issues-at-the-ballot-box-this-election-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">complications<\/a> on Nov. 8 and hundreds of thousands of mail-in ballots to tabulate, Arizona and Nevada aren\u2019t expected to deliver their <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/greg_price11\/status\/1590807037751226370?s=12&#038;t=sUEWGSwQwReJMT--_GyLHg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">final tabulations<\/a> until <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/greg_price11\/status\/1590786462613901313?s=12&#038;t=1pZeJX3Lnd0DWUk03KL9nQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">next week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Confidence in our nation\u2019s elections is at an <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/321665\/confidence-accuracy-election-matches-record-low.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">all-time low<\/a>. Yet swing states with key races now routinely prolong counting for days even though <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/321665\/confidence-accuracy-election-matches-record-low.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">polling strongly suggests<\/a> that\u00a0severely undermines the public\u2019s trust in elections.<\/p>\n<p>Some states have grown so comfortable with this system that they\u2019ve started to preemptively announce delays, with corporate media going so far as to characterize early Republican leads as a \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/11\/08\/the-lefts-red-mirage-narrative-is-nothing-more-than-a-cover-for-election-rigging\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">red mirage<\/a>\u201d before vote counts even started.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s going to take a few days,\u201d Pennsylvania\u2019s Acting Secretary of State Leigh M. Chapman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/nation\/2022\/11\/07\/election-officials-fear-counting-delays-will-help-fuel-claims-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> at a press conference before Election Day. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t mean anything nefarious is happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Corporate media largely frame this overall decline in trust as a Republican issue, saying it stems from former President Donald Trump\u2019s unjustified anger over the 2020 election, which they say \u2014 despite record turnout, mass mail-in balloting, vote delays, and a slew of irregularities in multiple tipping-point states \u2014 was the freest and most fair election the country has ever had. But the truth is, voters on <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/3725194-most-republicans-dont-trust-the-election-system-a-red-wave-could-change-that\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">both sides<\/a> of the political aisle despise anxiously awaiting tabulation because they know it opens the door for problems and meddling.<\/p>\n<p>Even if this election were as safe and secure <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/11\/16\/republicans-have-good-reason-not-to-trust-the-election-results\/\">as they claim<\/a>, the fact that it now takes days and possibly weeks to learn who will control the halls of power for the next few years sows reasonable doubt in the minds of Americans. Without a principled and structured system for quick, accurate calculation, confidence in elections plummets.<\/p>\n<p>Voters want to know, for instance, how the largest county in the battleground state of Arizona (and the fourth most-populous county in the country) \u2014 where the officeholder in charge of running elections is at the top of the Democrats\u2019 gubernatorial ticket \u2014 can be rife with problems in election after election. Is an election \u201crigged\u201d if, after weeks of mail-in balloting, some Election Day voters \u2014 which skew largely Republican \u2014 are prevented from casting their votes?
