I was butchered by an institution that we trust more than anything else in our lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The letter of intent to sue outlines the \u201cexperimental nature\u201d and \u201coff-label use\u201d of the puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and double mastectomy surgery offered to Cole, which lack long-term studies to support their use in gender medicine, and alleges that the treatments amount to \u201cmedical experimentation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The letter finds that Kaiser \u201ccoerced\u201d Cole and her parents into medical transition by \u201cfalsely informing\u201d them that her gender dysphoria would not resolve on its own, despite considerable evidence that contradicts this claim, which was withheld from Cole and her family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChloe and her parents were never informed of the high rate of desistance for children diagnosed with gender dysphoria,\u201d the letter stated. \u201cAlso, they were never informed of the high probability that Chloe\u2019s gender dysphoria would resolve as an adult without hormone or surgical treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, current <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sexologytoday.org\/2016\/01\/do-trans-kids-stay-trans-when-they-grow_99.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">evidence<\/a> indicates that roughly 60\u201390% of children who identify as transgender but do not socially or medically transition will no longer identify as transgender in adulthood.<\/p>\n<p>The letter states that Cole\u2019s doctors informed her parents that their daughter was at a high risk for suicide if they did not proceed with social and medical transition, despite the fact that Cole had \u201cno significant indications of suicide or severe depression.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cole was never offered an alternative to medical transition, the letter delineated. In fact, the much more appropriate option of psychiatric treatment, including a \u201cwatchful waiting\u201d approach, or an attempt to treat underlying psychological conditions, was never recommended to Cole or her family.<\/p>\n<p>The letter continues by alleging that the \u201cinformed consent\u201d doctors obtained from Cole for both hormones and surgery failed to exhaustively list the risks and side effects associated with the treatments, and questions whether \u201cit is even possible to give such consent as a minor and at such a critical time in her life and development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis radical, off-label, and inadequately studied course of chemical and surgical \u2018treatment\u2019 for Chloe\u2019s mental condition amounted to medical experimentation on Chloe,\u201d the letter charges. \u201cThese experimental procedures are very dangerous, especially to young patients, but also very lucrative to the Defendants.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cole made the public announcement alongside her lawyer, Harmeet Dhillon, on the Fox News program \u201cTucker Carlson Tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"zxx\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/nzDYyqV1Gj\">pic.twitter.com\/nzDYyqV1Gj<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Chloe Cole \u2b50\ufe0f (@ChoooCole) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChoooCole\/status\/1590889570853605376?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 11, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe medical system shouldn\u2019t dictate the future of young children\u2019s lives,\u201d said Dhillon. \u201cThrough this legal action, we will hold the \u2018professionals\u2019 involved accountable for their deliberate choices to mutilate children and financially benefit from it without regard to the human tragedies they created. We will break the cycle of them breaking America\u2019s children before it\u2019s too late.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kaiser Permanente expressly <a href=\"https:\/\/mydoctor.kaiserpermanente.org\/ncal\/structured-content\/#\/Treatment_Types_of_Transgender_Top_Surgery_-_Plastic_Surgery.xml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">follows<\/a> the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH) guidelines for surgery, an organization <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-declaration-launches-opposition-to-leading-transgender-health-association\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">denounced<\/a> internationally by medical and mental health professionals for its \u201cadherence to ideological views unsupported by evidence, its exclusion of ethical concerns, and its mischaracterization of basic science.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kaiser\u2019s website includes pseudoscientific <a href=\"https:\/\/mydoctor.kaiserpermanente.org\/ncal\/structured-content\/#\/Health_Topic_Understanding_Gender_Identity_-_Transgender_Health_Pediatrics.xml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">guidance<\/a> on \u201csex assigned at birth,\u201d the idea that doctors arbitrarily dictate a person\u2019s biological sex rather than observe and record it, and \u201cgender identity,\u201d a concept for which no scientific <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NeuroSGS\/status\/1549324206437011458?s=20&#038;t=-gjlcU2sKngr0FGHf-zqTw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">evidence<\/a> exists.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of minors like Cole have sought medical transition on the ill advice of mental health and medical professionals in recent years. According to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-insurance-data-reveals-shocking-number-of-minors-obtained-transgender-surgeries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">analysis<\/a> of insurance claims by Reuters, 17,683 children began puberty-blockers or hormones between 2017 to 2021. A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jamapediatrics\/article-abstract\/2797439\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">journal<\/a> estimated 1,130 reconstructive chest surgeries were performed on adolescents aged 12 to 17 from 2016 to 2019. Both of these estimates were likely significant undercounts, as the former relied solely on insurance claims, and the latter on hospital-based databases excluding private surgery centers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is worse is that I am not alone in my pain,\u201d said Cole. \u201cI will ensure that the blood and tears of detransitioners like me will not be in vain.
