Later in the day, the Maricopa County Elections Command Center said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JenAFifield\/status\/1590088406826373120\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> that \u201cprinter settings\u201d were the cause.<\/p>\n<p>In a joint <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/maricopacounty\/status\/1590540959544381440\">statement<\/a> on Wednesday, Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chairman Bill Gates and Vice Chairman Clint Hickman released more details on the issue, saying the ballot-on-demand printers were used previously and had correctly operated during the 2022 primaries in August.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe printer settings for the Ballot-On-Demand printers at Vote Centers were the same ones we used in the August Primary,\u201d the chair\u2019s statement reads. \u201cThe paper was the same thickness. Prior to the General Election, the Elections Department test-printed and test-tabulated hundreds of ballots without issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The issue impacted \u201cless than 7 percent of Election Day voters\u201d\u2014or \u201cabout 17,000 ballots\u201d\u2014that were dropped into secure slots at the tabulators,\u00a0the statement noted.<\/p>\n<p>It also added that officials are committed to fully investigating the incident and digging into \u201cthe root cause of what happened\u201d so similar problems can be avoided in the future.<\/p>\n<p>Despite a widespread issue with tabulation equipment in Arizona\u2019s most populous county, voters were still able to vote at locations with defective machines, although the ballots would be placed in a separate box.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe good news is election administration has built-in redundancies\u2014backup plans when things don\u2019t go as planned. This enables all valid votes to count even if technology, on occasion, fails,\u201d according to the chair\u2019s latest update.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVoters impacted by the printer issue had several ways to cast their ballot yesterday, including dropping their completed ballot into a secure box (door 3) on-site. Those ballots will be verified as legitimate and then tabulated at MCTEC. We are committed to counting all legal votes and then finding the root cause of what happened so that it does not happen again. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/lxcYN3PvQD\">pic.twitter.com\/lxcYN3PvQD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Maricopa County (@maricopacounty) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/maricopacounty\/status\/1590540959544381440?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 10, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Local Republicans and candidates have sharply criticized county officials over the tabulation issues in the pivotal state.<\/p>\n<p>The campaigns for Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, Republican Senate candidate Blake Masters, and the Republican National Committee (RNC), sued Maricopa County over the widespread problems with tabulation equipment.<\/p>\n<p>An emergency motion (<a href=\"https:\/\/prod-media-assets.protectthevote.com\/media\/document\/news\/AZ_Complaint_11.8_y8mj6e7n.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pdf<\/a>) to extend voting hours filed by the RNC, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, former state lawmaker Jill Norgaard, as well as Masters and Lake, was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/mkt_app\/republicans-file-emergency-request-to-extend-voting-hours-in-maricopa-county_4851452.html\">rejected<\/a> on Tuesday by a judge in Arizona, who stated that \u201cthe court does not have evidence there was a voter who was precluded the right to vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As of early Thursday, the final count of the state\u2019s gubernatorial race between Lake and Democrat Katie Hobbs is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/mkt_morningbrief\/arizona-governor-race-between-kari-lake-and-katie-hobbs-too-close-to-call_4837777.html\">still not known<\/a>. Also, the race between Democrat Sen.
