You have to ask somebody else, I think he\u2019s doing a great job. I\u2019m a \u2013 kind of a Biden guy, I like what he\u2019s doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Begala went on to say that there had been \u201ca lot of emerging new stars\u201d in the Democratic Party, however, suggesting that if Biden were to bow out, the party had enough depth to work around that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy wouldn\u2019t he is because of the toil of the campaign,\u201d Sellers began, noting that COVID had actually taken away some of the typical campaign pressures because it allowed Biden to avoid a lot of the ground-game staples that previous and future campaigns would likely require. \u201cI mean, the campaign is a monster in itself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not saying that he can\u2019t do it,\u201d Seller continued. \u201cThe question he has to answer is, does he want to go through that, and go through, you know, primary debates? Because he\u2019s going to be primaried. That\u2019s a fact. That, we\u2019re new age Democrats. Now, I\u2019m going to support him in that primary, but he\u2019s going be \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou think he\u2019s going to get primaried?\u201d Collins asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course!\u201d Sellers was adamant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy a serious candidate?\u201d Begala appeared unconvinced.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid Hillary Clinton get primaried?\u201d Sellers offered.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHillary wasn\u2019t an incumbent \u2026\u201d Begala protested.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe wasn\u2019t an incumbent president,\u201d Collins agreed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt doesn\u2019t even matter if the candidate is serious or not. There\u2019s going to be somebody \u2026\u201d Sellers tried again.<\/p>\n<p>Begala continued to push back, saying that former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton hadn\u2019t been primaried when they were incumbent presidents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s going to be somebody, there\u2019s going to be somebody,\u201d Sellers insisted. \u201cThis is, this is not Bill Clinton or Barack Obama\u2019s Democratic Party anymore. I wish it was. There are a lot of, there are a lot of us who are going to support Joe Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut who would primary him?\u201d Collins pressed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel firm in the belief that he\u2019ll get primaried from the Left,\u201d Sellers said, arguing that Biden was likely to face a challenge from the far Left, from someone who felt that his policies had not gone far enough.<\/p>\n<p>Sellers is not the only one exploring the possibility that the Democrats could put up a candidate who is not Joe Biden in 2024 \u2014 three weeks ahead of Tuesday\u2019s midterms, The Washington Post put out a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2022\/10\/15\/top-ten-democrats-2024-ranked\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">top-ten ranked list<\/a> of potential Democratic candidates \u2014 and while Biden was ranked first, the list also included Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Vice President Kamala Harris, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, and Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CNN panelists appeared baffled by the certainty with which analyst\u00a0Bakari Sellers claimed that President Joe Biden was likely to face a challenger going into the 2024 Democratic primary election.
