It has been thought for a while that the GOP would take control of the House, but up until very recently, Senate prospects were much dimmer.<\/p>\n<p>Since the Senate has started to look a bit more promising for Republicans, talk has emerged of a <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/3724087-chatter-grows-over-potential-rick-scott-gop-leadership-challenge-to-mitch-mcconnell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">changing of the guard in Senate leadership<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, the whispers involve Florida Senator Rick Scott taking on current Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, who has held the top spot in the party since 2006.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">When we take back the senate thanks to Rick Scott and DJT McConnell\u2019s leadership must be challenged. McConnell was at an event in August when he said of Senate races, \u201cSenate races are just different, they\u2019re statewide. Candidate quality has a lot to do with the outcome.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To translate: McConnell doesn\u2019t like actual conservatives running for office.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of McConnell\u2019s comments, Scott challenged him saying the two had \u201ca strategic disagreement,\u201d and felt he had to defend GOP candidates \u2013 saying McConnell\u2019s comments were \u201cnot productive.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rick Scott has done significantly more to help us win than Mitch McConnell. Scott has been a dependable ally of Trump. The relationship between Trump and McConnell has gone steadily downhill <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/mcconnell-turns-on-trump-again-says-trump-responsible-for-capitol-violence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">since McConnell blamed Trump outright<\/a> for the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rick Scott may also have another advantage. Many Trump-endorsed Senate candidates have good chances of winning their races on Tuesday. Among them, Arizona\u2019s Blake Masters, whose race <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/news\/blake-masters-argues-senate-republicans-need-new-leadership-says-mcconnell-will-not-own-me\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McConnell-aligned PACS pulled out<\/a> of and left other conservative groups to fund.<\/p>\n<p>Masters said during a debate that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/09\/07\/politics\/mcconnell-senate-republican-leader-oz-midterms\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McConnell is \u201cnot bad at everything<\/a>. He\u2019s good at judges. He\u2019s good at blocking Democrats. You know what he\u2019s not good at? Legislating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alaska Senate candidate Kelly Tshibaka, and J.D. Vance in Ohio \u2013 the latter another Trump-endorsed candidate who has a good shot at winning \u2013 have both said the Senate leadership \u201cneeds new blood.\u201d Vance also added that McConnell is \u201ca little out of touch with the base.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In Missouri, Attorney General and Senate candidate Eric Schmitt put it pretty plainly, \u201cMitch McConnell hasn\u2019t endorsed me and I don\u2019t endorse him for leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McConnell on the other hand, is <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/3724087-chatter-grows-over-potential-rick-scott-gop-leadership-challenge-to-mitch-mcconnell\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">losing many of his closest supporters<\/a>, including Richard Shelby (AL), Roy Blunt (MO), Richard Burr (NC), Rob Portman (OH), Pat Toomey (PA), and Ben Sasse (NE).<\/p>\n<p>If Republicans take control of the Senate, and Rick Scott does decide to run for the Leader position, he just may have a whole new set of supporters.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Rand Paul or Josh Hawley.
