While left-wing media assures its readers that \u201ctrans\u201d issues are nothing but a right-wing overreaction, many Americans are not buying it. Erin Friday, founder of <a href=\"https:\/\/ourduty.group\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Our Duty<\/a>, an international network of parents critical of gender ideology, believes the Democrats\u2019 adoption of medical transition for minors will be the end of them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI truly believed that my party\u2013the party I consistently voted for over the last 37 years\u2013was the party of morals and science,\u201d said Friday, a California resident who describes herself as a lifelong supporter of the Democrat party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut given that not one high level Democrat has stood up against the gender ideology that promotes ripping children\u2019s and vulnerable young adults\u2019 body parts out for profit, I can no longer vote for a Democrat,\u201d she added. \u201cThis singular issue will destroy the party.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The medical transition of minors is a contentious issue, and current polling indicates that it may play a significant role in determining the outcome of the 2022 midterm elections. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/large-majority-of-americans-say-they-wont-vote-for-candidates-who-supports-transgender-procedures-for-youth-poll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent poll<\/a> found that more than 70% of American voters in the 2022 midterm elections are not likely to vote for a candidate who supports allowing minors to undergo gender transition procedures. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrafalgargroup.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/COSA-Support-Full-Report-1102.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">survey<\/a>, nearly 80% of Independent voters, and 43% of Democrats join Republicans in opposing candidates who support allowing minors to medically transition.<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/politics\/more-than-1-million-voters-switch-to-gop-raising-alarm-for-democrats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">analysis<\/a> of voter registration data by the Associated Press in June found that more than 1 million voters across 43 states, especially in the suburbs, where swing voters can sway election results, have switched to the Republican Party over the last year.<\/p>\n<p>Rikki Schlott, a columnist for the New York Post, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/09\/24\/some-registered-democrats-sick-of-the-left-are-switching-sides\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interviewed<\/a> some of the ex-Democrats who had recently changed their voter registration to either Independent or Republican because they were \u201csick of the radical left.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to recent Gallup <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/15370\/party-affiliation.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">data<\/a> of \u201cParty Affiliation\u201d in October, 35% of respondents said they considered themselves Independent, 33% chose Republican, and 29% selected Democrat.<\/p>\n<p>Additional polling from October found that nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/poll-majority-of-american-voters-say-transgender-movements-targeting-of-underage-minors-has-gone-too-far\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">75%<\/a> of American voters with an opinion on the issue believe that the transgender movement has \u201cgone too far\u201d by encouraging minors to use drugs and surgeries to appear like the opposite sex. Another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/poll-nearly-80-of-voters-oppose-transgender-procedures-on-minors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent poll<\/a> found that nearly 80% of American voters believe minors should be required to wait until they are adults to pursue transgender procedures.<\/p>\n<p>Legacy media has frequently portrayed those urging for caution and common sense practices as \u201canti-LGBT\u201d and \u201cfar Right,\u201d assuring their readers that science is on their side because of the U.S. medical organizations that endorse gender-affirming care.<\/p>\n<p>But <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/u-s-medical-groups-get-the-science-wrong-on-pediatric-gender-affirming-care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">none of the U.S.-based organizations<\/a> have done systematic reviews of the evidence, while arguably more progressive European countries like <a href=\"https:\/\/segm.org\/segm-summary-sweden-prioritizes-therapy-curbs-hormones-for-gender-dysphoric-youth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sweden<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/genderreport.ca\/finland-strict-guidelines-for-treating-gender-dysphoria\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Finland<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/englands-national-health-service-abandons-gender-affirming-model-of-care\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">England<\/a> have. After reviewing the evidence for the use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones in treating pediatric gender dysphoria, health authorities in all three countries have decided to abandon the \u201cgender-affirming\u201d model, finding the costs outweigh the benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Left-wing talk show host <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/researcher-fact-checks-john-olivers-misinformation-on-new-trans-rights-episode\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">John Oliver<\/a> dedicated an episode of his show \u201cLast Week Tonight\u201d to \u201ctransgender rights\u201d last month, making a slew of false and misleading claims about \u201cgender-affirming\u201d care and framing any criticism of it as a right-wing overreaction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome on the right have truly lost their minds about trans rights,\u201d Oliver said on his show, relying on clips from Republican candidates running for office who have used trans issues as part of their political campaigns, but neglecting to include the various ways Democrats have also used it to elevate their platforms.<\/p>\n<p>Leor Sapir, a fellow for the Manhattan Institute, believed that this was a deliberate choice. \u201cThis framing is clearly intended to persuade moderates and liberals that they are safe in supporting \u2018gender affirming care\u2019 because only \u2018those people\u2019 oppose it\u2014never anyone with secular, progressive values,\u201d said Sapir.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe attributes all opposition to the trans movement to \u2018the right,\u2019 as if feminists, gay rights activists, and even some transgender (or transsexual, as they often prefer to be called) people and groups are not key constituencies in the opposition to medical transition for minors,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Former Hawaii Rep.
