That\u2019s what some Republicans said last go \u2019round, when Donald Trump lost his re-election bid.<\/p>\n<p>As we know now, nothing was ever proven to have been amiss in the 2020 presidential election. Were there oddities and unexplained phenomena that sure looked like fraud or ballot tampering? Absolutely. But that\u2019s why we have courts of law, to sort through those things (and before you claim all the courts in the land are prejudiced against the former president, please step back from that precipice).<\/p>\n<p>This time around, Politico, a left-wing website founded by two Washington Post reporters, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/11\/07\/6-election-security-threats-to-watch-for-on-election-day-00065277\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dropped<\/a> a bomb on Election Day eve.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c6 election security threats to watch for on Election Day,\u201d the headline screamed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe midterms face a bevy of digital threats, from stolen Twitter accounts to hacked election websites, that could spark chaos, confusion and unrest that last long after the polls close,\u201d the site wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Wait, wasn\u2019t that last time, too? Well, no, the Politico liberals say.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 2020 presidential election was rife with allegations of voting machine hacks that were later debunked. Yet there are real risks that hackers could tunnel into voting equipment and other election infrastructure to try to undermine Tuesday\u2019s vote,\u201d reporter Eric Geller wrote.<\/p>\n<p>The article goes on to outline the half dozen \u201csecurity threats,\u201d including \u201ccampaign social media account hijacking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHackers could take over candidates\u2019 or campaigns\u2019 social media accounts on Election Day and make inflammatory comments designed to alienate voters or spread false information about how or when to vote. These impersonation schemes could fuel distrust of the election process and knock campaigns off balance in the home stretch of the contest,\u201d the piece said.<\/p>\n<p>Well, hang on a sec. Let\u2019s put a bit of responsibility here on the voter: No.1, maybe find out where you\u2019re supposed to vote and what the poll hours are. No. 2 (and this is an easy one that applies to all of life): Don\u2019t believe everything you read or hear.<\/p>\n<p>The journalists at ABC News piled on with this breathless tweet on Monday: \u201cHIGH ALERT AT THE POLLS: Intelligence officials warn of \u2018heightened threat\u2019 from domestic extremists on election day. @pierretabc has more details.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">HIGH ALERT AT THE POLLS: Intelligence officials warn of &#8220;heightened threat&#8221; from domestic extremists on election day. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PierreTABC?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@pierretabc<\/a> has more details. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Sajkiy2IyV\">pic.twitter.com\/Sajkiy2IyV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Good Morning America (@GMA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GMA\/status\/1589596346197184513?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 7, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIntelligence officials say extremists could target election related infrastructure, personnel or even voting sites,\u201d a talking head said on \u201cGood Morning America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But chief justice correspondent Pierre Thomas said, \u201cthere\u2019s good news. \u2026 I recently spoke to the homeland security secretary and he said there\u2019s no evidence of hacking in any state or anything significant that should affect people\u2019s ability to go out and cast a vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet he threw in some conspiracy stuff without one ounce of corroboration. \u201cThe amount of online chatter in the dark corners of social media does have them concerned, what\u2019s driving the anger, the hot-button issues that divide us and the potential of violence from radicals who embrace that lie, that there\u2019s widespread election fraud.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are election deniers at NBC News, too, who warn about \u201cmisinformation\u201d on social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSocial media platforms including Meta\u2019s Facebook and Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and Google\u2019s YouTube are readying themselves for another heated midterm Election Day,\u201d CNBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/11\/07\/social-media-platforms-prep-for-election-day-misinformation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> Monday. \u201cThe platforms have various policies about whether they allow political ads and have all created plans to prevent users from being misled about voting and the election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The timing of the reports \u2014 all the day before Election Day \u2014 exposed one clear intent: to muddy up the waters. Democrats are going to lose the House in a landslide (some estimates run 50 seats or higher) and most likely will lose the Senate, with some pollsters saying they could lose as many as five seats. But this way, the deniers have at least stoked some doubt about the results.<\/p>\n<p>Axios, founded by one of the founders of Politico, jumped in with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/11\/04\/russian-disinfo-far-right-voters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this<\/a> old narrative about Russia: \u201cA suspected Russian disinformation campaign is targeting far-right U.S. audiences to undermine support for Democratic candidates ahead of Tuesday\u2019s elections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Huh. Just Democrats. Might that have happened last time with Republicans? Pshaw!<\/p>\n<p>CNN ramped up the rhetoric in an October 28 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/us\/feds-warn-that-domestic-violent-extremists-pose-heightened-threat-to-midterm-elections\/ar-AA13uTuh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">piece<\/a>: \u201cFederal officials on Friday warned that domestic violent extremists pose a heightened threat to the 2022 midterm elections, in a joint intelligence assessment sent to state and local officials and obtained by CNN.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLaw enforcement across the country is on the lookout for threats to election officials, such as, intimidating behavior directed at voters, vandalism of ballot boxes and the potential of people visiting polling sites and questioning the legitimacy of voters, according to Cohen, who continues to work with state<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democrats and their media minions have been busy planting the seed that the 2022 midterm elections could be rife with hacking and interference from extremists, which might make the outcomes \u201cillegitimate.\u201d Sound familiar?
