Prepare for a \u201cred mirage,\u201d they warned. <\/p>\n<p>It was a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/11\/08\/dem-campaigns-sound-alarm-about-red-mirage-redux\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">coordinated effort<\/a> across corporate media. Headlines ranged from \u201cWhy The 2022 Midterm Election Results Might Not Be Known Right Away\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/why-the-2022-midterm-election-results-may-not-be-known-right-away\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CBS News<\/a>) to \u201cBe patient: this election is probably going to go on awhile\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/11\/07\/1134646535\/election-results-delay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NPR<\/a>) to \u201cWe won\u2019t know all the midterm results on election night. That\u2019s normal\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/policy-and-politics\/23445541\/midterm-elections-2022-results-election-night-mail-in-ballot\">Vox<\/a>) and finally this kicker from <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/early-election-night-results-final-tallies\/story?id=92762835\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ABC<\/a>: \u201cEarly election night results might not indicate final tallies (and why that\u2019s ok).\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Note ABC News\u2019 framing, in particular, which posits that while early election night results might point to a red wave (as polls overwhelmingly suggest), it will all be a \u201cmirage\u201d as Democrats will catch up to (and surpass) their opponents once mail-in and absentee ballots are calculated in the coming days. Isabella Murray writes:<\/p>\n<p>As early Election Day results come in on Tuesday, it will likely appear that a Republican candidates [sic] vying for any number of the federal or statewide races appear to be leading their Democratic opponents, even by large margins. Their leads will dwindle, or crumble completely, after perceived \u2018dumps\u2019 of votes are recorded by state\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/alerts\/elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">election<\/a>\u00a0officials who count mail-in and absentee ballots in the days \u2014 or even weeks \u2014 following Election Day.<\/p>\n<p>Axios is advancing the same narrative, writing that the Democratic National Committee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/11\/08\/dem-campaigns-sound-alarm-about-red-mirage-redux\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">held a private call<\/a> with key stakeholders and activists on how to handle communications if there\u2019s a \u201cred-to-blue shift\u201d in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDemocratic campaigns\u00a0across the map warned journalists and supporters in preemptive briefings that tonight\u2019s outcomes may take a while,\u201d Axios <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/newsletters\/axios-am-9a978fe0-8ff1-489a-97e0-4bfd28e63459.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>. \u201cIn 2020, early returns in key states favored Republicans. It took days to count the mail-in ballots that helped put President Biden over the top. Dems had warned in advance of this \u2018red mirage.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That Democrats and the media <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/late-start-counting-midterm-mail-votes-means-wait\/story?id=91344266\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">are already priming voters<\/a> to expect GOP gains to evaporate once mail-in and absentee ballots \u2014 which skew heavily Democratic \u2014 are counted in the coming days and weeks should set off alarm bells reminiscent of the 2020 election, when Trump supporters woke up to find that the huge gains the former president had in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania on election night had disappeared due to late-night mail-in ballot \u201cdumps\u201d for then-candidate Joe Biden. <\/p>\n<p>That polling locations now routinely count mail-in and absentee ballots days or even weeks past Election Day \u2014 and try to normalize it \u2014 is <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/megbasham\/status\/1589820573643083776\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">absurd<\/a>. These delays only increase the likelihood of election irregularities and illegal votes (by allowing Democratic operatives to \u201cfind\u201d or \u201ccure\u201d the necessary ballots they need to put their candidates over the top). But Democrats gaslight Americans by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/greg_price11\/status\/1587948603640782850\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">normalizing concepts<\/a> like \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/newsletters\/huddle\/2022\/11\/08\/lets-call-it-election-week-00065609\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">election week<\/a>,\u201d showing how desperately they are holding on to their 2020 election-rigging playbook. <\/p>\n<p>As columnist Auron MacIntyre wrote on Twitter, \u201cThey are<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democrats and the media ramped up their propaganda campaign to normalize delayed election results.
