Morissette was slated to perform a duet of \u201cYou\u2019re So Vain\u201d with Olivia Rodrigo as part of a tribute to inductee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/celebrities\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carly Simon<\/a>, Variety <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2022\/music\/news\/alanis-morissette-dropped-out-rock-roll-hall-fame-performance-sexism-olivia-rodrigo-carly-simon-1235425940\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Morissette was there for rehearsals but bowed out before Saturday night\u2019s filming, the publication noted. Multiple sources claimed the singer \u201cstruggled with the song\u201d during rehearsal, and tensions were running high. But later, the \u201cOutta Know\u201d composer laid out her side of the story.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are some misinformed rumblings about my not performing at the Rock &#038; Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony this past weekend. Firstly, I have to say how much I adore Carly Simon and Olivia Rodrigo and Dolly Parton and Janet Jackson and Pat Benatar and Sheryl Crow and Pink and Brandi Carlile and Sara Bareilles \u2014 and all the amazing people and artists who were there,\u201d she wrote on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/alanis\/\">Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Next, Morissette detailed how sexism was to blame for her departure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have spent decades in an industry that is rife with an overarching anti-woman sentiment and have tolerated a lot of condescension and disrespectfulness, reduction, dismissiveness, contract-breaching, unsupportiveness, exploitation and psychological violence (and more) throughout my career,\u201d she continued.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI tolerated it because nothing would stop me from connecting with those who I cared about and resonated with. I live to serve and connect with people and so over the years I sucked it up on more occasions than I can count in order to do so. It\u2019s hard not to be affected in any industry around the world, but Hollywood has been notorious for its disrespect of the feminine in all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the Grammy Award-winning artist summed up her thoughts on the matter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThankfully, I am at a point in my life where there is no need for me to spend time in an environment that reduces women,\u201d she shared on Instagram stories.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have had countless incredible experiences with production teams with all genders throughout my life. So many, and so fun. There is nothing better than a team of diverse people coming together with one mission.
