He had to race door-to-door with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/nascar\/noah-gragson-driver\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Noah Gragson<\/a>, who was vocal in his dislike of Gibbs throughout the week, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/nascar\/justin-allgaier-driver\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Justin Allgaier<\/a>, both drivers for rival JR Motorsports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">The 20-year-old Gibbs, whose win a week earlier at Martinsville Speedway came as a result of him wrecking his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/nascar\/brandon-jones-driver\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brandon Jones<\/a> on the final lap, didn\u2019t have contact with any of his competitors on the way to the win.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">&#8220;It just comes down to compartmentalizing the right way and make sure your preparation is key,&#8221; Gibbs said. &#8220;It\u2019s awesome to win.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">JR Motorsports, which had three finalists, came up empty with Gragson finishing second, Allgaier third and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/nascar\/josh-berry-driver\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Josh Berry<\/a> 13th.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">Here are some takeaways from the Xfinity championship race:<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\"><strong>Gibbs stays focused<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">Gibbs knew he couldn\u2019t have contact with the other drivers after last week, that he wanted to win the race clean. He accomplished that goal and was fortunate that drivers he has had run-ins with did not take frustrations out on him in the biggest race of the season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">&#8220;I just didn\u2019t know how it would go down today,&#8221; his crew chief Chris Gayle said. &#8220;All week long we just talked about controlling what we can control \u2014 that\u2019s Ty driving the way he did tonight, that\u2019s us putting the best car underneath him we could and whatever happens, it happens.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">&#8220;If we don\u2019t win and get taken out on Lap 10, it just is what it is. Sometimes that happens and you can\u2019t really say anything about it when you\u2019re aggressive the same way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">Gibbs won for the seventh time this season, his first full year in the series.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">&#8220;Hopefully I earned some respect back, and we&#8217;ll move\u00a0on,&#8221; Gibbs said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\"><strong>Next stop: Cup<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">Gibbs is expected to replace <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxsports.com\/nascar\/kyle-busch-driver\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kyle Busch<\/a> in the JGR No. 18 Cup car next season. Joe Gibbs said announcements should come &#8220;pretty quick.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">&#8220;Certainly, you look at it and say, \u2018Is it too early?\u2019 That\u2019s always going to be a thought process,&#8221; Joe Gibbs said about elevating his grandson to the sport\u2019s highest level. &#8220;But I think he has worked really hard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">&#8220;We are going to try to announce that at one time, our Xfinity [lineup] and what we\u2019re going to do with our fourth Cup car.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">Ty Gibbs has routinely deflected questions about going Cup racing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">&#8220;I\u2019m trying to be humble, so I don\u2019t really care for trying to say stuff on where I should be,&#8221; Ty Gibbs said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">But the win amid the controversy shows his focus.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">&#8220;He raced a great race,&#8221; said Gayle, who is expected to move to Cup with Gibbs. &#8220;Young drivers are going to have ups and downs. He had a really tough weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">&#8220;He did a great job of dealing with the mental pressure of that &#8230; and still stay focused on the car today.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\"><strong>JRM disappointed<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">JR Motorsports co-owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. talked to his drivers after the race and knew they just pretty much got beat. Gragson and Allgaier combined to lead 61 laps, but Gibbs led 125 of the 200 circuits.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">&#8220;That was rough to watch, gut-wrenching even when you\u2019re leading,&#8221; Earnhardt said. &#8220;It\u2019s a blessing to be successful and have a shot at it. &#8230; We had a great opportunity but didn\u2019t put it together.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">Gragson went and shook Gibbs&#8217; hand after the race because he respected the way he raced Sunday. But that didn\u2019t seem to relieve the sting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">&#8220;I used to be buddies with him when he was younger, probably three, four years ago, he was a super cool kid,&#8221; Gragson said. &#8220;He really was.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">&#8220;But I don&#8217;t know, it&#8217;s just kind of changed over the last couple years, and I&#8217;ve told him that, and he knows that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">Earnhardt said that Gibbs raced the JRM drivers hard but clean.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">&#8220;Ty had a lot of opportunity to lean on us today,&#8221; Earnhardt said. &#8220;He raced hard and clean. He earned it. We put up our best fight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mg-t-b-20 ff-h fs-16 lh-1pt88 mg-t-b-20 article-content\" data-v-eca4528c=\"\">&#8220;We put him in a bunch of compromising situations, and he excelled. He had a great race car and was real patient.
