As Breitbart News\u2019s John Carney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/03\/01\/fact-check-biden-trump-tax-cut\/\">writes<\/a>:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Eighty-two percent of American middle-class households\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.taxpolicycenter.org%2Fpublications%2Feffect-tcja-individual-income-tax-provisions-across-income-groups-and-across-states%2Ffull&#038;data=02%7C01%7C%7C57ada033221f4f63541908d74f10b9f7%7C4a082c81950a410d9618462a9c74d6ae%7C1%7C0%7C637064805597050835&#038;sdata=K3ZDYYA%2FSHTWZB4z7gVUhim5AmJZlzugzoZlzSfpR2g%3D&#038;reserved=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">received<\/a>\u00a0a tax cut and Americans altogether\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.taxpolicycenter.org%2Fpublications%2Feffect-tcja-individual-income-tax-provisions-across-income-groups-and-across-states%2Ffull&#038;data=02%7C01%7C%7C57ada033221f4f63541908d74f10b9f7%7C4a082c81950a410d9618462a9c74d6ae%7C1%7C0%7C637064805597060838&#038;sdata=%2Fj3tt%2BIJjSG7grSpX7W%2FR%2FKoRyZD7%2Bor6crUPZqxgDg%3D&#038;reserved=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">received<\/a>\u00a0an average tax cut of $1,260. Ninety percent of Americans\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnbc.com%2F2019%2F01%2F04%2Fnonfarm-payrolls-december-2018.html&#038;data=02%7C01%7C%7C57ada033221f4f63541908d74f10b9f7%7C4a082c81950a410d9618462a9c74d6ae%7C1%7C0%7C637064805597070832&#038;sdata=R8u9f7z55wJhJ5SGVrz5S9zIbzkN2o6tT3rzNCrwAh0%3D&#038;reserved=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">saw<\/a>\u00a0an increase in take-home pay. (Lokman Vural Elibol\/Anadolu Agency via Getty)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Lowering National Debt<\/h3>\n<p>CLAIM: At a Florida campaign rally on Tuesday and at the same New Mexico rally, Biden claimed that his government had reduced the national debt in half.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cut the federal debt in half. A fact,\u201d Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2022\/11\/01\/remarks-by-president-biden-at-dnc-grassroots-rally-for-senatorial-candidate-val-demings-and-gubernatorial-candidate-charlie-crist\/\">stated<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>VERDICT: That claim is false as the U.S. national debt soared passed $31 trillion for the first time in October, Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/10\/05\/bidenomics-sends-u-s-national-debt-soaring-past-31-trillion-for-first-time\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">CNN pointed out Biden was most likely conflating the national debt and federal deficit, which was reduced in half between 2021 and 2022. However, even that is also misleading, as the federal deficit was expected to fall in fiscal years 2021 and 2022 after record-high pandemic relief spending in 2020<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<h3>Social Security<\/h3>\n<p>CLAIM(S): Biden made two misleading claims regarding social security checks increasing for senior citizens, according to the left-wing network.<\/p>\n<p>His first statement came in Pennsylvania last week when he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2022\/10\/28\/remarks-by-president-biden-at-a-pennsylvania-democratic-party-reception\/\">said<\/a>, \u201cOn our watch, for the first time in 10 years, seniors are going to get the biggest increase in their Social Security checks they\u2019ve gotten.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>VERDICT(S):\u00a0The remarks are misleading because it misses important context. Social security checks are rising 8.7 percent in 2023 because they were adjusted to the skyrocketing inflation that has occurred under Biden\u2019s presidency. In fact, the cost-of-living (COLA) adjustment \u2014 which is what social security rates are tied to \u2014 was the highest it had increased in 40 years, Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/10\/13\/bidenflation-social-security-cost-living-adjustment-jumps-8-7-percent-largest-increase-40-years\/\">noted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden White House Twitter account tweeted the same claim but was hit with a \u201cFact Check\u201d by Twitter, and the post was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/11\/02\/white-house-deletes-false-social-media-post-crediting-joe-biden-higher-social-security-checks\/\">deleted<\/a> shortly after.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">Moreover, CNN noted the comments were false because the COLA adjustment has increased almost every year for the past ten years.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_22538423\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/11\/GettyImages-1244516260.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-22538423\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/GettyImages-1244516260-1024x683-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"990\" height=\"660\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>U.S. President Joe Biden looks at his watch as he speaks about lowering prescription drug costs and protecting Social Security and Medicare at Jones Elementary School in Joliet, Illinois, November 5, 2022. (SAUL LOEB\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Gas Prices<\/h3>\n<p>CLAIM: At an economic speech last week in New York, the president\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2022\/10\/27\/remarks-by-president-biden-on-microns-plan-to-invest-in-chips-manufacturing\/\">said<\/a>, \u201cToday, the most common price of gas in America is $3.39 \u2013 down from over $5 when I took office.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>VERDICT: When Biden took office, gas prices were nowhere near averaging $5 per gallon nationwide. In January 2021, when he was inaugurated, gas prices averaged $2.38 per gallon, according to the American Automobile Association (AAA).<\/p>\n<p>While the president correctly says that gas prices have come down to a current average of $3.79 per gallon, that was after they\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\">reached<\/a> a record high of a national average of $5 per gallon in June under his administration, according to AAA.<\/p>\n<h3>Xi Jinping and China<\/h3>\n<p>CLAIM: Biden stated in October that he traveled over 17,000 miles with Chinese President Xi Jinping when he was vice president. He made a similar claim Thursday, saying he had traveled 17,000 to 18,000 miles with the Chinese Communist Party leader.<\/p>\n<p>VERDICT: Biden and Xi never traveled anywhere close to 17,000 to 18,000 miles with each other; however, they did travel great distances to frequently meet and spend time together when Biden was vice president, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2021\/02\/19\/bidens-repeated-claim-hes-traveled-17000-miles-with-xi-jinping\/\">according<\/a> to the\u00a0<em>Washington Post<\/em>.
