Tom Cotton (R-AR) has reportedly decided against running for president in 2024 following months of speculation that the 45-year-old was gearing up to pursue the nation\u2019s highest office.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple reports said that Cotton only recently made the decision and that family played a role in his choice.<\/p>\n<p>A source <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/11\/06\/politics\/tom-cotton-2024\/index.html\">told<\/a> CNN that Cotton did not want to be away from his two sons, ages five and seven, while on the campaign trail.<\/p>\n<p>Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/11\/06\/tom-cotton-passes-on-2024-presidential-run-00065334\">reported<\/a> that Cotton has made clear to donors that he is \u201copen to serving in a future Republican presidential administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cotton faced an uphill battle to get into the top tier of Republican candidates in terms of where they currently sit in polling as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) and former President Donald Trump (R) are the only two candidates that consistently poll in the double digits.<\/p>\n<p>Cotton made news earlier this month when he and other top Republican senators sent letters to dozens of companies instructing them to \u201cpreserve relevant documents\u201d as lawmakers float <a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/antitrust\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">antitrust<\/a>\u00a0investigations regarding the environmental, social, and governance movement, also known as\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dailywire.com\/topic\/esg?_gl=1*vzs4hk*_ga*OTAwNTI1NTYwLjE2MTM5NzIxMzI.*_ga_CZKR9ZYKJP*MTY2NzU4NTEyOS4xNDMwLjEuMTY2NzU4NTM5MS42MC4wLjA.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ESG<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/republican-senators-fire-warning-shot-threaten-to-investigate-woke-corporations-over-anti-fossil-fuel-collusion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a>, which was spearheaded by Cotton, told more than four dozen law firms to warn corporate clients about \u201cthe risks they incur by participating in climate cartels and other ill-advised ESG schemes,\u201d referencing the fact that FTC Commissioner Lina Khan recently said during a hearing that there is no \u201cESG exemption\u201d to antitrust laws.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ESG movement attempts to weaponize corporations to reshape society in ways that Americans would never endorse at the ballot box,\u201d the letter stated. \u201cOf particular concern is the collusive effort to restrict the supply of coal, oil, and gas, which is driving up energy costs across the globe and empowering America\u2019s adversaries abroad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beyond asset managers encouraging portfolio companies to rapidly pivot toward renewable energy, six major banks recently came under\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/conservative-attorneys-general-investigate-six-major-banks-for-wokeness\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">scrutiny<\/a>\u00a0from Republican state attorneys general for jointly vowing to discourage fossil fuel use and investment.
