Maggie Hassan\u2019s (D-NH) reelection hopes, as the state <a href=\"https:\/\/dartmed.dartmouth.edu\/fall17\/html\/headlines_fentanyl\/\">leads<\/a> the nation in fentanyl overdoses, Dartmouth Medicine reports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">According to the state\u2019s medical examiner\u2019s office, nearly 4,000 state residents have died from an\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wmur.com\/article\/overdoses-new-hampshire-fentanyl-10-2722\/41795162#:~:text=%2C%22%20Nelan%20said.-,Since%202011%2C%20nearly%204%2C000%20Granite%20Staters%20have%20died%20from%20an,deaths%20were%20due%20to%20fentanyl.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">overdose<\/a>\u00a0since 2011. In 2022, more than 330 overdoses occurred. Of those deaths, 135 were related to fentanyl.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The crisis <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenatorHassan\/status\/1551996804555735041\">has<\/a>\u00a0Hassan\u2019s attention, but her open border immigration policies have gone unchanged.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">\u201cTeenage deaths from fentanyl more than tripled from 2019 to 2021,\u201d she tweeted in July. \u201cPolice are seeing fentanyl laced in other drugs, creating a horrible emerging frontier in the substance misuse crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">Yet Hassan has not altered her illegal immigration policies. She has voted against Republican efforts\u00a0to force a vote on an amendment to a coronavirus bill to reinstate Title 42 restrictions. She has refused to oppose the Biden administration\u2019s \u201ccatch and release\u201d illegal immigration policy, along with\u00a0<a class=\"editor-rtfLink x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/nhjournal.com\/a-day-after-voting-against-title-42-effort-hassan-backs-bill-to-keep-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">opposing<\/a>\u00a0former President Donald Trump\u2019s \u201cRemain in Mexico\u201d policy, which President Joe Biden ended.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, U.S. Border Patrol agents apprehended a record-setting 2.2 million illegal migrants during fiscal year 2022, representing a 33 percent increase over the previous record year of 2021.<\/p>\n<p>State Police Col. Nathan Noyes stated at a press conference in June that undetected fentanyl is mixed with illicit drugs that come through the southern border.<\/p>\n<p class=\"a8d-pre\">\u201cIt\u2019s rare to see heroin by itself,\u201d Noyes said. \u201cWhen we do see heroin, it is routinely mixed with fentanyl. And while fentanyl can be found as the sole drug in some samples, approximately 70 percent of the time it is mixed with other drugs. \u2026 We\u2019re seeing fentanyl mixed with everything, including counterfeit pills.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<div class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n<p>Chris Stawasz, the Northeast regional director of government affairs for American Medical Response,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/newhampshirebulletin.com\/briefs\/state-officials-warn-of-increase-in-non-opioid-drugs-laced-with-fentanyl\/\">told<\/a> the New Hampshire Bulletin that many who overdose are unaware they have overdosed on\u00a0fentanyl.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wDYxhc\" lang=\"en-US\">\n<p>\u201cMid-year last year, we began to see people who were denying \u2026 that they used an opioid,\u201d he said, adding that it has become more commonplace. \u201cListen, this person, he is not using opioids. He\u2019s using cocaine. That\u2019s what he used. He doesn\u2019t use anything else.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"attachment_22451648\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\">\n<p>\u201cYet they were unresponsive,\u201d Stawasz continued. \u201cThey responded to Narcan. So clearly there was an opioid involved in whatever they were taking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Hassan refuses to change her open border policies. Republican challenger Gen. Don Bolduc has a four-point plan to solve the crises. Speaking with Breitbart News, Bolduc <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/10\/08\/exclusive-republican-gen-don-bolduc-rips-democrat-maggie-hassan-for-open-borders-fentanyl-crisis\/\">said<\/a> the first goal is to secure the border.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe second thing we need to do is give our law enforcement all the tools they need, which she [Hassan] just voted against doing, and the third thing is that we need to designate the cartels as terrorist organizations, so we can get the whole weight of our joint terrorism task force behind interdicting these cartels,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then stop this nonsense where we allow distributors and manufacturers and people that are selling [drugs] to plead down and not do any jail time,\u201d Bolduc concluded. Crime and illegal immigration are top issues in the midterm race.
