Many families have experienced the slow burn of this disease and of course, we are no different; so I speak from the perspective of a family man but with profound humility to the band, the greatest fans a group could have and this exceptional accolade,\u201d Taylor wrote, <a href=\"https:\/\/duranduran.com\/2022\/a-note-from-andy-taylor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to<\/a> the full speech text posted to the band\u2019s website. \u201cAlthough my current condition is not immediately life threatening there is no cure,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_1-0-8\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\">\u201cI\u2019m truly sorry and massively disappointed I couldn\u2019t make it. Let there be no doubt I was stoked about the whole thing, even bought a new guitar with the essential whammy!\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m so very proud of these four brothers; I\u2019m amazed at their durability, and I\u2019m overjoyed at accepting this award. I often doubted the day would come. I\u2019m sure as hell glad I\u2019m around to see the day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lead singer Simon Le Bon also shared his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/entertainment\/duran-durans-andy-taylor-sits-out-rock-hall-ceremony-due-to-stage-4-cancer-diagnosis-042712041.html?guccounter=1&#038;guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&#038;guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAD6S4coC3WVIWldH8HeJb0l8W3j5oSV68_xXCoSfL2tevfiTpS_w4UjDQGROdgRYBIxE9wSRyFfsiUeo94HzW-eVaphxctIaanfX1c8cXNUj213ixFkw0E4QC7wGQi-JeRtA2Q0VgruNr1FN038GOMoMl91HwxqxHq1pQbPJqASH\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">personal thoughts<\/a> backstage after the band\u2019s performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is devastating to us to find out that a colleague \u2014 not a\u00a0<em>colleague<\/em>, that\u2019s the whole thing; a\u00a0<em>mate<\/em>, a\u00a0<em>friend<\/em>, one of our\u00a0<em>family<\/em> \u2014 is not going to be around for very long. It is absolutely devastating. We love Andy dearly and I\u2019m not going stand here and cry \u2014 I think that would be inappropriate \u2014 but that\u2019s how I feel like,\u201d Le Bon said.<\/p>\n<p>Duran Duran launched in 1978, with Taylor joining in 1980. The band\u2019s first hit single was the 1981 song \u201cGirls on Film\u201d from their self-titled album.<\/p>\n<p>The band continued with a line of hits during the 1980s, including its most famous songs, \u201cHungry Like the Wolf\u201d and \u201cNew Moon on Monday.\u201d Their song \u201cA View to a Kill\u201d also served as the soundtrack to the James Bond movie of the same name.<\/p>\n<p>Taylor played in the band until 1985 and again from 2001 to 2006. He also was part of the group Power Station with fellow Duran Duran bass guitarist John Taylor.<\/p>\n<p>The guitarist also released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisdig.com\/andy-taylor-shares-new-solo-single-mans-a-wolf-to-man\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new solo single<\/a> last week called \u201cMan\u2019s a Wolf to Man.\u201d The song is from Taylor\u2019s second solo album of original material, which BMG scheduled for release in Spring 2023.<\/p>\n<p>The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honored other artists during the Saturday event.
