Cory Booker said that Democrats still have a chance to hold the U.S. Senate.<\/p>\n<p>Appearing on ABC\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/booker-concedes-tough-election-season-sees-pathway-democrats\/story?id=92711024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">This Week<\/a>\u201d Sunday, Booker claimed that Democrats are \u201cbucking\u201d the historical trend in which a first-term president\u2019s party usually loses in the midterm elections. Democrats have been pushing those talking points in recent days as Republicans are relying on public polling to advance an alternative narrative.<\/p>\n<p class=\"fnmMv geuMB alqtB wqIGQ\">\u201cThe party in the White House usually loses during midterms but the reality is we still have a very strong pathway,\u201d Booker said. \u201cNot just to keeping the Senate but really picking up seats in\u2026 Pennsylvania and in places like Wisconsin and North Carolina. This election still is in the ballots. And the reality is we\u2019re bucking what are usual trends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"fnmMv geuMB alqtB wqIGQ\">\u201cI think that this is a tough election season,\u201d Booker continued. \u201cIt\u2019s a midterm election. But I still see a pathway for us to maintain control of the Senate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked how Democrats could win, Booker said it would happen if they showed up at the polls and vote. \u201cIt happens by voter turnout,\u201d he said. \u201cI mean, when I\u2019m going around the country, I see a lot of enthusiasm, but at the end of the day, we\u2019ve got to translate that to people getting out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"fnmMv geuMB alqtB wqIGQ\">Democratic Senate Majority Leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/chuck-schumer-democrats-will-hold-the-senate-and-maybe-even-pick-up-seats-in-midterms\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chuck Schumer<\/a> said the same thing in an interview with the Associated Press last week. \u201cIt\u2019s tight,\u201d Schumer said. \u201cI believe Democrats will hold the Senate and maybe even pick up seats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want to give the illusion that these are all slam dunks,\u201d he continued, but \u201c[t]he fact that we\u2019re in the ballpark and our Democratic candidates are defying the political environment is a testament to a few things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[Voters] are seeing how extreme these Republican candidates are, and they don\u2019t like it. And second, they\u2019re seeing the Democrats are talking to them on issues they care about, and that we\u2019ve accomplished a great deal on things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democratic activists and legacy media have recently attacked public polling, especially surveys that favor Republicans. After the New York Times released a series of polls showing Democrats in the lead in key battleground Senate races, leftist media personalities blasted those that found Republicans leading in those races, calling them \u201ccheap\u201d and \u201cpartisan\u201d while accusing them of trying to manufacture a red wave.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you get past those headlines and dig a little deeper, you would uncover an insidious and seemingly intentional campaign from Republican-backed polling firms to flood the zone and tip the balance of polling averages in favor of their candidates, to create a narrative that Republicans are surging and that a red wave is imminent and inevitable,\u201d MSNBC host\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolitics.com\/video\/2022\/11\/01\/msnbcs_joy_reid_republicans_are_trying_to_flood_the_zone_with_junk_polls_to_make_a_red_wave_look_inevitable.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joy Reid<\/a>\u00a0said in a monologue on her show \u201cThe ReidOut\u201d Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost of the polling over the last few weeks is coming from partisan outfits \u2014 usually Republican \u2014 or auto-dial firms,\u201d New York Times pollster\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/10\/31\/upshot\/midterms-polls-senate-nyt.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nate Cohn<\/a>\u00a0claimed in an editorial touting his own polling. \u201cThese polls are cheap enough to flood the zone, and many of them were emboldened by the 2020 election, when their final results came close to the election results even as other pollsters struggled.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Democratic New Jersey Sen.
