Joe Manchin<\/a> blasted fellow Democrat <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-calling-for-americans-to-unite-demonizes-republicans-as-a-threat-to-democracy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President Joe Biden<\/a> as \u201cdivorced from reality\u201d Saturday in an extraordinary rebuke prompted by Biden\u2019s vow to close coal-fired power plants.<\/p>\n<p>Manchin, who represents a red state dependent on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/wall-street-journal-blasts-joe-biden-john-kerry-for-pushing-self-destructive-green-energy-policies-while-china-burns-more-coal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coal industry<\/a> and who has clashed with the socialist wing of his party before, reacted after Biden vowed Friday to replace coal energy with wind and solar and shut down plants \u201call across America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden\u2019s comments are not only outrageous and divorced from reality, they ignore the severe economic pain the American people are feeling because of rising energy costs,\u201d Manchin said in the statement. \u201cComments like these are the reason the American people are losing trust in President Biden and instead believe he does not understand the need to have an all in energy policy that would keep our nation totally energy independent and secure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">My statement on comments President Biden made about shutting down coal plants: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LEeqrGdwqm\">pic.twitter.com\/LEeqrGdwqm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Senator Joe Manchin (@Sen_JoeManchin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Sen_JoeManchin\/status\/1588893692232085506?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 5, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s comments came at an event in Carlsbad, California, where he touted his administration\u2019s economic policies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was in Massachusetts about a month ago on the site of the largest old coal plant in America. Guess what? It cost them too much money,\u201d Biden said. \u201cNo one is building new coal plants because they can\u2019t rely on it, even if they have all the coal guaranteed for the rest of the existence of the plant,\u201d Biden said. \u201cSo it\u2019s going to become a wind generation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd all they\u2019re doing is, it\u2019s going to save them a hell of a lot of money and using the same transmission line that they transmitted the coal-fired electric on, we\u2019re going to be shutting these plants down all across America and having wind and solar power.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Manchin\u2019s \u00a0strongly worded statement taking aim at his party\u2019s standard bearer, coming just days before the midterm elections, was a dramatic escalation of his alienation from fellow Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt seems his positions change depending on the audience and the politics of the day,\u201d Manchin said of Biden. \u201cPoliticizing our nation\u2019s energy policies would only bring higher prices and more pain for the American people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-t=\"{\" n>Manchin, who backed the Biden administration\u2019s so-called \u201cInflation Reduction Act,\u201d which included green energy initiatives, called Biden\u2019s words \u201coffensive and disgusting.\u201d He demanded an apology from the White House on behalf of coal workers, many of whom have lost their jobs as the Left seeks to replace fossil fuels with green energy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>West Virginia Sen.
