Numerous polls show that voters <a href=\"https:\/\/morningconsult.com\/2022-midterm-elections-tracker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">think otherwise<\/a>. Beschloss is among many liberals trying to shift voters&#8217; focus away from skyrocketing inflation and the <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/columns\/crime-starters-usa\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rising crime rates<\/a> in Democrat-led <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/democrats\/as-crime-soars-democratic-voters-turn-on-left-wing-prosecutors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cities<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A historian 50 years from now\u2014if historians are allowed to write in this country and if there are still free publishing houses and a free press, which I&#8217;m not certain of,&#8221; Beschloss said. &#8220;But if that is true, a historian will say, what was at stake tonight and this week was the fact whether we will be a democracy in the future, whether our children will be arrested and conceivably killed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Before introducing Beschloss, Hayes played a clip of Biden&#8217;s speech in which the president said electing MAGA Republicans is a &#8220;path to chaos,&#8221; a claim with which Hayes agreed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Whether we take that path to chaos, whether we continue to march down it, is one of the major choices\u2014if not the major choice\u2014voters face this coming Tuesday,&#8221; said Hayes.<\/p>\n<p>Beschloss\u2014who is in Biden&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/biden-administration\/historians-saving-democracy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">elite\u00a0circle of historians<\/a>\u00a0and has compared Biden to former presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Lyndon B.
