It was a video of her twerking upside down,\u201d Lopez continued. \u201cI realized I wasn\u2019t the best dad, but when your kid\u2019s twerking upside down, you\u2019ve got some real f***ing problems. I didn\u2019t realize it was this serious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Seeing Mayan twerking made the comedian realize he had to \u201cget out there\u201d and talk to his daughter again, which led to them entering therapy together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou have to be responsible for the trauma that you\u2019ve caused,\u201d Lopez continued.<\/p>\n<p>The former \u201cLopez Tonight\u201d host said it all led to him taking responsibility. \u201cI\u2019m owning, for the first time in my life, my responsibility to the marriage and as a father,\u201d he told Fallon during the appearance. \u201cI said, \u2018Yeah, I\u2019m responsible for this, and I\u2019m going to spend the rest of my life repairing it.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for being in therapy, Lopez described it as a difficult but beneficial process.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you think therapy is bad, what\u2019s worse is the elevator ride down after because it\u2019s all heavy stuff,\u201d he quipped. \u201cYou almost have to stagger it out, like when you dine and dash, somebody goes out the back, somebody goes out the front. Don\u2019t go in the same car when you\u2019re doing trauma therapy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The father and daughter duo previously spoke about how the pandemic helped them fix their relationship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere was a time where we didn\u2019t speak and were estranged for about three years,\u201d Mayan said during a virtual press conference, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Entertainment_News\/TV\/2022\/11\/02\/george-lopez-mayan-lopez-ninterview\/1831667321560\/\">according<\/a> to UPI.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReally, the pandemic brought us back together. I started making TikToks with my family to reconnect, and [showrunner] Debby Wolfe saw one of [the videos], and this whole \u2018Lopez vs. Lopez\u2019 idea was kind of born from that idea.
