I don\u2019t want to live.\u2019 And I\u2019m like, \u2018Wait, what?\u2019 It was one of those moments where you look in her eyes and there\u2019s nothing there. It was just pitch black. It\u2019s so scary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re like, \u2018F*** this. This needs to end. We need to go home,\u2019\u201d Theresa continued, noting that they did <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com.au\/celebrity\/news\/selena-gomez-has-cancelled-her-revival-tour-due-to-her-mental-health\/news-story\/85726509f7fab43a95bbdf12cfaf95d1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cut the tour short<\/a> after the \u201cWizards of Waverly Place\u201d alum had already performed 55 of the scheduled dates.<\/p>\n<p>The singer\u2019s friend Raquelle added that Gomez, 30, had been hearing voices in her head that just got \u201clouder and louder\u201d until she couldn\u2019t stand it any longer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off,\u201d Gomez told <a href=\"http:\/\/www.people.com\/article\/selena-gomez-time-off-anxiety-panic-attacks-lupus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">People<\/a>\u00a0at the time. \u201cAs many of you know, around a year ago I revealed that I have lupus, an illness that can affect people in different ways. I\u2019ve discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of lupus, which can present their own challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gomez entered a mental health facility for treatment \u2014 a move that she initially pushed back against \u2014 and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. \u201cI didn\u2019t want to go to a mental health hospital. I didn\u2019t want to, but I didn\u2019t want to be trapped in myself in my mind anymore,\u201d she explained. \u201cI thought, \u2018My life is over.\u2019 I thought, \u2018This is how I\u2019m going to be forever.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gomez also opened up about her <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2022\/11\/03\/selena-gomez-breaks-down-crying-over-worsening-lupus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ongoing struggle<\/a> with lupus, an autoimmune disorder that she has been battling for years.<\/p>\n<p>After her initial diagnosis in 2014, the \u201cOnly Murders In The Building\u201d star went through chemotherapy to treat the disease \u2014 but her absence from the spotlight led some to speculate that she was actually in treatment for substance abuse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to so badly say, \u2018You guys have no idea. I\u2019m in chemotherapy. You\u2019re a\u2013holes,\u2019\u201d Gomez revealed. \u201cI locked myself away until I was confident and comfortable again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She recounted another flare-up of the disease in 2020 that left her in so much pain that she would wake up hurting every day. \u201cNow it just hurts.
