DePape reportedly demanded to know the speaker\u2019s whereabouts, shouting, \u201cWhere\u2019s Nancy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While a source familiar with the matter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/11\/01\/politics\/paul-pelosi-family-body-cam-footage\">told<\/a> CNN Tuesday that the Pelosi family would be able to view and listen to evidence from the attack, it\u2019s unclear when or if the public ever will.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are no plans to release the body cam footage prior to court proceedings,\u201d a spokesperson for the San Francisco Police Department\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/us-politics\/body-camera-depape-paul-pelosi-b2215589.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> The Independent this week.<\/p>\n<p>DePape is facing both state and federal charges related to the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Some in the media have raised questions about the attack and law enforcement\u2019s response. Host Megyn Kelly, for example, on Monday questioned why Pelosi, an elderly man, would be attacked with a hammer while officers were on-scene. At the very least, she said, the department had \u201cegg on its face.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s see it,\u201d Kelly said of the body-cam footage.\u00a0\u201cLet\u2019s see it all. I don\u2019t know what went on. I know enough to smell a rat. There\u2019s something going on here that they\u2019re not telling us. I just don\u2019t know what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins notably confirmed this week that police body camera footage did capture the attack. \u201cYou do see him get attacked on that footage,\u201d Jenkins said, according to The Independent.<\/p>\n<p>Some say Politico implied in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/politico-reporter-denounces-gop-spreading-paul-pelosi-assault-disinformation-outlet-reported\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> that a third party answered the door for police after Mr. Pelosi called 911 about the attack, causing confusion online.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDavid DePape forced his way into the home through a back entrance, [San Francisco Police Chief Bill] Scott said. Officers arrived at the house, knocked on the front door and were let inside by an unknown person. They discovered DePape and Pelosi struggling for a hammer, and after they instructed them to drop the weapon, Scott said, DePape took the hammer and \u2018violently attacked\u2019 Pelosi,\u201d the Politico report <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/politico-reporter-denounces-gop-spreading-paul-pelosi-assault-disinformation-outlet-reported\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The following \u201cclarification\u201d was then added to the post days later: \u201cCLARIFICATION: This report has been updated to clarify that according to the San Francisco Police Department and District Attorney Brooke Jenkins, there were only two people inside the Pelosi home when police arrived early Friday morning, Paul Pelosi and the suspect, David DePape.
