Pick \u2019em, they said. Could go either way, they said. Democrats hold the Senate, could keep House, too, they said.<\/p>\n<p>Suddenly, all that has changed. Nationwide surveys now show a flood of voters to the Republican Party \u2014 blacks, Hispanics, and now, in a new poll, women.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhite suburban women, a key group of midterm voters, have significantly shifted their support from Democrats to Republicans in the closing days of midterm campaigning because of rising concerns over the economy and inflation, according to the latest Wall Street Journal poll,\u201d the paper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/white-suburban-women-swing-toward-backing-republicans-for-congress-11667381402\">reported<\/a> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The numbers are staggering. It\u2019s not just a trickle of women, it\u2019s a torrent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new survey shows that white women living in suburban areas, who make up 20% of the electorate, now favor Republicans for Congress by 15 percentage points, moving 27 percentage points away from Democrats since the Journal\u2019s August poll,\u201d the paper wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re talking about a collapse, if you will, in that group on the perceptions of the economy,\u201d Republican pollster Tony Fabrizio, who conducted the poll with Democratic pollster John Anzalone, told the Journal.<\/p>\n<p>White suburban women are joining blacks and Hispanic voters, who are moving to the GOP amid skyrocketing gas and food prices and soaring crime rates across the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe issue of inflation \u2013 and the feeling that the White House hasn\u2019t done enough to address it \u2013 is helping Republicans score significant inroads among Hispanic and Black voters, both demographic groups that Democrats have long relied on for support,\u201d USA Today <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2022\/10\/27\/republicans-resurgent-economy-midterms\/10596369002\/\">reported<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow 40% of Hispanics and 21% of Blacks are backing the Republican candidate,\u201d according to a USA Today\/Suffolk University poll. Those numbers are huge \u2014 black support is up 15 points from 6% in the last midterms to 21%, and Hispanic support jumped 15 points to 40%.<\/p>\n<p>The sudden movement among the voting blocs comes as blacks and Hispanics have grown increasingly frustrated with soaring crime in U.S. cities. After decades of failure by Democrats \u2014 who have long run the biggest American cities \u2014 perhaps it\u2019s time to give the other guys a try.<\/p>\n<p>But there are a few other driving forces in the movement. The predominantly Christian black and Hispanic blocs are not supportive of the gay and transgender issues being pushed by Democrats. And they\u2019re not at all happy about the defund the police and no-bail practices spouted by liberals \u2014 mainly because in the cities, they\u2019re the most affected by the policies.<\/p>\n<p>Eight in 10 (81%) of black Democrats say violent crime is a \u201cvery important\u201d issue in the 2022 election, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/fact-tank\/2022\/10\/31\/violent-crime-is-a-key-midterm-voting-issue-but-what-does-the-data-say\/\">according<\/a> to a recent Pew survey of registered voters. That compares to just 33% of white Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlack Americans have consistently been more likely than other racial and ethnic groups to express concern about violent crime, and that remains the case this year,\u201d the pollsters said.<\/p>\n<p>Although the polls had the 2022 elections neck and neck for months, now white suburban women, blacks and Hispanics are bailing on the Democratic Party.<\/p>\n<p>Expect a red tsunami on Election Day.<\/p>\n<p><em>The views expressed in this piece are the author\u2019s own and do not necessarily represent those of The Daily Wire.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Joseph Curl has covered politics for 35 years, including 12 years as White House correspondent for a national newspaper.
