Make no mistake, runaway inflation is the <a href=\"https:\/\/mises.org\/wire\/inflation-its-effects-and-failures\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">worst possible<\/a> economic calamity. Obviously, the cost of the goods you want to buy goes up \u2013 because each dollar you have is worth less than it was the day before.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>You work just as hard, but take home less. If you\u2019ve talked to Millennials, you\u2019ll often find them furious about the cost of living, the share of wealth held by older generations compared to their generation, and other complaints.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Before you blast them as merely lazy loafers, (Yes, many of them are) consider what they are working with.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The aforementioned article chronicles a 27-year-old who now lives in <a href=\"https:\/\/dnyuz.com\/2022\/11\/02\/as-housing-costs-soar-co-living-makes-a-comeback\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">what amounts to a dorm<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Not a starter house. Not a duplex. Not even an apartment. A dorm. Now of course, being in New York City, where rent is laughably high, you might expect less-than-stellar digs. But a dorm?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The kicker is that this isn\u2019t limited to NYC. So-called \u201cco-living arrangements\u201d are spreading across the country, complete with hip \u201cstartups\u201d and all.<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s just one example.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">With housing costs soaring, \u201cdorms for adults,\u201d as co-living arrangements are often called, are gaining popularity across the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/dbmRmMJADQ\">https:\/\/t.co\/dbmRmMJADQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The New York Times (@nytimes) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/nytimes\/status\/1587791686620553216?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 2, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/msnbcs-chris-hayes-has-a-new-conspiracy-theory-gop-will-tank-economy-on-purpose-if-they-win\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MSNBC\u2019s Chris Hayes Has a New Conspiracy Theory \u2013 GOP Will Tank Economy on Purpose if They Win<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>Where Are All The Workers?<\/h3>\n<p>For all the talk about \u201ccreating jobs\u201d we get from the White House, serious questions remain.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Just yesterday, The Center Square reported that there are <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/nearly-two-open-jobs-for-every-unemployed-worker-data-shows\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">two open jobs<\/a> for every person unemployed:<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who has been out and about since the beginning of the pandemic has seen the \u201chelp wanted\u201d signs \u2013 particularly at food joints and smaller, independent shops. They can\u2019t find the workers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So where are all the workers? How are so many people surviving without work?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One guess might be this: In July, the Labor Department reported that there was <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/labor-dept-says-at-least-163-billion-in-unemployment-fraud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at least <em>$163 billion<\/em> in unemployment fraud<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Such a figure is simply unfathomable.\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Reporter: &#8220;Biden claimed that he created 10 million new jobs\u2026 Those jobs have mostly been added back\u2026 Only about 514,000 jobs have been newly created.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Jean-Pierre: &#8220;You&#8217;re giving me data but there&#8217;s also data that shows unemployment is the lowest it&#8217;s been in 50 years.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/cuVfYUmnVK\">pic.twitter.com\/cuVfYUmnVK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Greg Price (@greg_price11) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/greg_price11\/status\/1584635408209825793?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 24, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/msnbc-guest-compares-concerns-over-inflation-to-nazi-germany-again\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MSNBC Guest Compares Concerns Over Inflation to Nazi Germany\u2026 Again<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>The Overall Picture Stinks<\/h3>\n<p>Checking back up on inflation for a second \u2013 it\u2019s hard to truly calculate, but working Americans have lost\u00a0<em>months<\/em> of income due to inflation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As of July, the average family had <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/the-pay-cut-president-average-american-family-has-lost-6800-in-annual-wages-under-bidens-inflation-administration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lost out on $6,800 thanks<\/a> to inflation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And Heaven help any poor soul brave enough to look at their retirement accounts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Figures from October show that the average American <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/average-american-has-lost-34000-from-retirement-plan-under-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">has lost $34,000 so far<\/a>. Maybe not the biggest deal in the world for younger people, but for anyone within a few years of retirement? For someone already retired? That could be a total disaster.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Much more could be said, and I could throw figures your way all day long, but the point is obvious.
