Supply chain challenges just keep coming,\u201d he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/trucking-oil-companies-ramp-warnings-diesel-shortage-put-ourselves-situation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> on Fox News, adding that truckers often essentially pay cash for gas and don\u2019t get paid for several weeks or more.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Todd also advocated for a more gradual approach to integrating new technology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe should \u2026 as a country take a longer-term view, do everything we can, put everything on the table,\u201d Todd said. \u201cBut in the meantime, stick with what works until you can replace it, and then make sure that when you do replace it, that it\u2019s scalable.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cNobody wants to be force-fed any alternative technologies or anything until they\u2019re done,\u201d he added. \u201cSo I think we put ourselves in this situation unnecessarily.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">A few weeks ago, numbers were released that revealed the country has 25 days of diesel reserves, leading to high delivery costs this month. However, as diesel production is expected to continue, the U.S. is not projected to run out despite having limited supply.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The costs are up nearly 40% for the month of November. The smaller companies are the ones who will feel the pain the most.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThere\u2019s no way any company can absorb cost increases like this, and any business that can\u2019t pass on their costs isn\u2019t going to stay in business for very long,\u201d Todd said. \u201cThe larger fleets are a little bit better positioned to deal with these kind[s] of conditions, but the smaller fleets \u2026 91% of the nation\u2019s truck fleet, these companies have six or fewer trucks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cSo we\u2019re really talking about Main Street-type businesses, and it\u2019s a huge strain on them to be able to keep up with these costs,\u201d he continued. \u201cThey try to pass them on, but rarely are they able to do it 100%.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Fuel supply business Mansfield Energy recently said the northeastern and southeastern areas of the United States will see shortage of diesel fuel, The Daily Wire previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/energy-company-warns-of-diesel-shortages-in-multiple-parts-of-the-country\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">He said the diesel shortage is \u201ca combination of bad policies,\u201d but added that a lot of factors have been outside of their control, as well.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In addition, oil costs could get up to $100 this year and be more than $120 in trading in 2023, a leading analyst Amrita Sen of Energy Aspects noted, per <a href=\"https:\/\/markets.businessinsider.com\/news\/commodities\/oil-prices-diesel-crisis-shortage-eia-biden-energy-europe-russia-2022-10\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Business Insider<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe are expecting [oil] prices to go towards $100 into the year end, and really trade into the $110s and $120s for most of next year,\u201d Sen told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/bsurveillance\/status\/1587050604765057024?cxt=HHwWgMC4mbqHq4YsAAAA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bloomberg<\/a>\u00a0earlier this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">However, the diesel shortage is a bigger problem.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe just haven\u2019t built [diesel supplies] over the summer,\u201d Sen said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s what we tend to use in the winter if it does get very, very cold.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Companies are continuing to warn against the diesel fuel shortage and how it will affect the trucking industry moving forward.\u00a0 South Carolina Trucking Association CEO Rick Todd recently spoke about the problems facing trucking businesses and the reasons behind the fuel shortage, as well as high costs.\u00a0 \u201cTruckers are feeling the hurt right now.
