Lee Zeldin, about soaring crime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know why that\u2019s so important to you,\u201d Hochul said dismissively.<\/p>\n<p>Bad answer. Very bad answer.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats have long taken the black vote for granted \u2014 promising everything, delivering nothing \u2014 but the 2022 midterm election is a very different animal. This time around, blacks are furious about skyrocketing crime to the point where some are abandoning the Democratic Party.<\/p>\n<p>Over eight in ten of black Democrats say violent crime is a \u201cvery important\u201d issue in the 2022 election, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/fact-tank\/2022\/10\/31\/violent-crime-is-a-key-midterm-voting-issue-but-what-does-the-data-say\/\">according<\/a> to a recent Pew survey of registered voters. That compares to just 33% of white Democrats. \u201cBlack Americans have consistently been more likely than other racial and ethnic groups to express concern about violent crime, and that remains the case this year,\u201d the pollsters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/methods\/2020\/09\/08\/democrats-made-gains-from-multiple-sources-in-2018-midterm-victories\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the last midterm elections in 2018, Democrats crushed Republicans among black voters. They won 92% of the black vote to just 6% for the GOP. But things are changing this time around. \u201cNow 40% of Hispanics and 21% of Blacks are backing the Republican candidate,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2022\/10\/27\/republicans-resurgent-economy-midterms\/10596369002\/\">according<\/a> to a USA Today\/Suffolk University poll.<\/p>\n<p>Those numbers are huge \u2014 black support is up 15 points from 6% in the last midterms to 21%, and Hispanic support jumped 15 points to 40%.<\/p>\n<p>Even The New York Times sees the writing on the wall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Zeldin could win because independents are siding with Republicans on crime and inflation rather than with Democrats, whose concerns over protecting democracy take precedence,\u201d former Clinton adviser Mark Penn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/10\/31\/opinion\/lee-zeldin-kathy-hochul-governor.html\">wrote<\/a> in an opinion column for the Times this week.<\/p>\n<p>Hochul\u2019s response at the debate shows just how out of touch Democrats are. And in an interview with Al Sharpton on MSNBC she dismissed the issue once again. \u201cThese are master manipulators,\u201d she said of Republicans. \u201cThey have this conspiracy going all across America trying to convince people in Democratic states that they\u2019re not as safe. Well guess what? They\u2019re also not only election deniers, they\u2019re data deniers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Democrats have misplayed their cards with Hispanics, too. The party has endlessly pushed transgender issues and drag shows in schools, but that\u2019s a no-go for the huge voting bloc.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA majority of Hispanic voters oppose drag queen performances for children and teachers promoting gender ideology in schools, according to a new WPA Intelligence-Visto Media poll obtained exclusively by the Daily Caller,\u201d the news outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/10\/31\/exclusive-hispanic-voters-oppose-drag-queen-kids\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Opponents told the pollsters they find it \u201cinappropriate\u201d for teachers to push gender identity and sexual orientation with school children as young as 6, the polling data found. And 57% of Hispanics believe it\u2019s also \u201cinappropriate\u201d to teach gender ideology to kids.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSixty-one percent of Hispanics believe it\u2019s inappropriate for \u2018drag queens to perform in front of children under 10 years old,&#8217;\u201d according to the poll. Just 24% believe that drag queen performances for children are appropriate,\u201d the Caller reported.<\/p>\n<p>Other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2022\/10\/27\/republicans-resurgent-economy-midterms\/10596369002\/\">polls<\/a> have found the predominantly Christian black and Hispanic blocs are not supportive of the gay and transgender issues being pushed by Democrats.
