high-level aide in the Trump administration, has been granted immunity by the Justice Department to testify before a federal grand jury investigating the handling of classified documents by former President Donald Trump, according to reports.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A federal judge recently ruled that the Justice Department could not compel Patel to testify without offering him protection from prosecution for any incriminating information he provided during his appearance, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/trump-aide-granted-immunity-set-to-testify-at-grand-jury-probing-mar-a-lago-documents-11667429590?mod=hp_listb_pos2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wall Street Journal<\/a> reported late Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Patel, a former chief of staff to acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller in the final days of the Trump administration, cited his Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination during an appearance\u00a0before\u00a0the grand jury last month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"inline-slideshow\" leaving office, to answer questions about the materials seized by the FBI during the<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/09\/12\/fbi-seized-hundreds-of-privileged-trump-docs-from-mar-a-lago\/\"> Aug. 8 raid<\/a> at Mar-a-Lago, the report said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n\t<\/aside>\n<p>But Patel could still be changed if information is uncovered independent of his testimony.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Patel was named by Trump to act as a liaison with the National Archives and Records Administration, which initially sought the documents beginning in May 2021.<\/p>\n<p>He is expected to be grilled about how the reams of documents ended up at Trump\u2019s Florida resort, whether they were classified and whether the former president took actions to keep the materials from the federal government.<\/p>\n<p>Patel has said publicly that Trump declassified the documents as he prepared to exit the White House in January 2021.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe White House counsel failed to generate the paperwork to change the classification markings, but that doesn\u2019t mean the information wasn\u2019t declassified,\u201d Patel told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/05\/05\/documents-mar-a-lago-marked-classified-were-already-declassified-kash-patel-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Breitbart News in May.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was there with President Trump when he said \u2018We are declassifying this information\u200b,&#8217;\u201d Patel told the outlet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div make the decision to declassify the documents. <\/p>\n<p>\u200b\u201cIf you\u2019re the president of the United States, you can declassify just by saying, \u2018It\u2019s declassified.\u2019 Even by thinking about it,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/09\/22\/donald-trump-says-theres-no-formal-declassification-process\/\">Trump told Hannity.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A number of key issues surrounding the \u200bhandling of the \u200bclassified materials, including the president\u2019s declassification abilities, are working their way through court challenges.<\/p>\n<p>FBI agents removed
