James campaigned for Attorney General on the promise of launching investigations of President Trump before even the pretext of a predicate existed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On September 21, 2022, James commenced a civil action in New York\u2019s Supreme Court entitled <i>People of the State of New York, et al. v. Donald J. Trump, et al. <\/i>This civil action requests $250,000,000 in restitution.<\/p>\n<p><i>&#8220;<\/i>In the Civil Action, James identifies President Trump\u2019s revocable trust as the beneficial owner of various entities that own or control assets in New York and beyond, including in Florida,&#8221; the lawsuit states, with locations including several well-known clubs in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>The civil action from James alleges that Trump falsely inflated and deflated his taxes to pay a lower tax rate and get better insurance coverage and that Trump overstated his net worth by billions of dollars, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/3716683-trump-files-lawsuit-against-ny-ag-to-halt-review-of-personal-trust\/\">The Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>James has requested that the court appoint an independent watchdog to review Trump\u2019s financial procedures and disclosures.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s lawsuit claims that James\u2019 move to monitor his business would &#8220;jeopardize the more than 1,000 employees that operate these properties and would totally destroy the &#8216;pipeline\u2019 of future projects not only in the great State of Florida, but throughout the United States, and indeed the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit states that James\u2019 attempts to obtain a copy of the Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust would violate his privacy under Article I, Section 23 of the Florida Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In addition, James seeks to interfere with President Trump\u2019s unfettered right to own, acquire, transfer, or dispose of property, personally or in the Trust, contrary to Article I, Section 2 of the Florida Constitution,&#8221; the lawsuit states.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Additionally, Defendant\u2019s actions seek to infringe on his trustee\u2019s powers over the Trust and impose substantial interference with the ability of the trustee to discharge the trustee\u2019s duties in accordance with \u00a7 736.0815, Fla. Stat., \u00a7 736.0816 Fla. Stat., and the Trust,&#8221; the lawsuit adds.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s lawyers allege that James\u2019 desire to pursue President Trump was driven by bias, political animus, and the most severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome \u2013not facts.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Posting to <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/109277070510206777\">Truth Social<\/a> on Wednesday, Trump announced, &#8220;Today, I filed a lawsuit in Florida State Circuit Court against the corrupt Attorney General of New York State, Letitia &#8216;Peekaboo&#8217; James.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;New York State is one of the most crime-ridden places on earth with murders, robberies, drug deals, and every other form of crime setting records on a weekly basis,&#8221; Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/109277069589368847\">wrote<\/a>. &#8220;While James does nothing to protect New York against these violent crimes and criminals, she attacks great and upstanding businesses which have done nothing wrong,\u00a0like the very successful, job and tax-producing Trump Organization that I have painstakingly built over a long period of years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Crooked and highly partisan James now thinks it is the business of the State of New York to go after my revocable trust and pry into my private estate plan, only to look for ways to recklessly injure me, my family, my businesses, and my tens of millions of supporters.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If I were not elected <a href=\"https:\/\/thepostmillennial.com\/breaking-trump-says-of-a-presidential-run-in-2024-i-will-probably-have-to-do-it-again\">President of the United States<\/a>, and now leading in the polls by substantial margins against both Democrats and Republicans, this would not be happening.
