I remember his parents were watching it, didn\u2019t do anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd it wasn\u2019t like he was hitting me, he was whipping me,\u201d she continued.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her comments come just after Burke revealed more details about an ongoing custody battle with ex-husband Matthew Lawrence for ownership of their dog, Ysabella.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, the \u201cDWTS\u201d star spoke about the trial during an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iheart.com\/podcast\/1119-burke-in-the-game-96185264\/\">episode<\/a> of her podcast. She confirmed that even though the divorce was finalized, the custody dispute is dragging on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m still just really hurt by the whole situation,\u201d Burke said. \u201cIt\u2019s still not over because we have to maybe go to trial \u2014 well, we are going to go to trial, unless [Lawrence] all of the sudden calls it off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s my dog,\u201d she continued. \u201cYsabella is my daughter \u2014 I\u2019m a dog mom, and that\u2019s it. I couldn\u2019t even imagine my life \u2014 I mean, I could just cry right now \u2013 but I couldn\u2019t imagine my life without her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She thanked fans for their support in March of this year shortly after announcing that her marriage was ending.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve realized that whenever I am at a point in my life where I have some big emotions to process, the best thing for me to do is to spend some time alone \u2013 other than being with Ysa of course, but I truly feel like she is a part of me, so she doesn\u2019t count,\u201d Burke <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CayPa28rJZH\/?hl=en\">wrote<\/a> at the time. \u201cIf I\u2019m being honest, really feeling my feelings is new to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The dance pro said she spent her \u201centire life up to this point trying to numb\u201d her feelings and said she\u2019s \u201clearning that really going through them is A LOT harder.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI guess all of that is to say, to truly experience my feelings, whatever they may be, being alone for a few days has been the best thing for me,\u201d she continued. \u201cI would highly encourage anyone else out there to try it and not feel guilty for needing that space.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cDancing With the Stars\u201d pro Cheryl Burke recently made accusations of abuse against her high school ex-boyfriend, claiming he subjected her to physical assault even while his parents were present.
