Tune in! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/IG1Suxk0nN\">pic.twitter.com\/IG1Suxk0nN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Christiana Holcomb (@ChristianaADF) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChristianaADF\/status\/1364705115333140482?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 24, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>On Wednesday night, Alanna Smith, one of three girls who had brought the lawsuit, <a href=\"https:\/\/video.foxnews.com\/v\/6235090708001#sp=show-clips\">appeared on Fox News<\/a> along with her attorney, Christiana Holcomb of the Alliance Defending Freedom. During her appearance on the network, Smith blasted the Biden Administration, saying, \u201cFairness needs to be restored in our sport and all other women\u2019s sports \u2026 these biological males are just taking it away from us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/boys-competing-with-girls-won-track-meets-the-girls-just-filed-a-lawsuit-in-federal-court\">reported<\/a>\u00a0on the lawsuit in February 2020:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>A lawsuit was filed in federal court by three high school girls and their mothers against the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC), which has permitted boys to compete in events and win awards that would otherwise have gone to girls. Selina Soule, Alanna Smith, and Chelsea Mitchell, represented by Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), were denied opportunities to compete at higher levels as boys took home the prizes. CIAC\u2019s policy allowed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/watch-two-transgenders-blow-out-girls-state-meet-hank-berrien\">two males to compete in girls\u2019 athletic competitions<\/a> beginning in the 2017 track season. Those boys have taken 15 women\u2019s state championship titles (titles held in 2016 by nine different Connecticut girls) and have taken more than 85 opportunities to participate in higher level competitions from female track athletes in the 2017, 2018, and 2019 seasons alone.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI got involved after I ran against the biological males at the New England meet because in the 200 meter I took third place when I \u00a0should have gotten runner-up,\u201d Smith began on Wednesday night. \u201cAnd it\u2019s not really about placement but it\u2019s all about knowing that I work so many hours a week to be able to get runner-up in New England\u2019s [championships] as a freshman. And I am really disappointed in the news, because me and the other girls, Selina and Chelsea, have worked really hard to get our stories out there, to get people to realize that fairness needs to be restored in our sport and all other women\u2019s sports.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fox host Katie Pavlich commented, \u201cChristiana, you know, from a political perspective, the Left claims to always stand up for women, they\u2019re the party of women, and yet here we are with policies that disenfranchise female athletes. And I have serious questions abut what this means in terms of harassment of female athletes. Does this mean that biological males are not allowed to go into the locker room as well as compete against them and take away scholarships and placement in state championships? I know that the lawsuit is going to move forward despite DOJ pulling their support for it? So where are you going from here?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, the lawsuit absolutely moves forward, but as you mentioned, this was clearly a politically motivated decision to side with radical activists over female athletes like Alanna,\u201d Holcomb answered. \u201cBut what\u2019 s even more concerning is this\u00a0effort to gut legal protection\u00a0for women is not just isolated\u00a0to what we see in Connecticut. Even now, the Biden administration is pushing the so-called Equality Act, which\u00a0ignores the real physical differences between\u00a0men and women and threatens\u00a0women\u2019s privacy, women\u2019s homeless\u00a0shelters, and yes, even women\u2019s sports on a national level for\u00a0female athletes like Alanna.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pavlich asked, \u201cBut in terms of athletics, Alanna, when it comes to the things that you\u2019ve missed out on, people say \u2018it\u2019s only fair\u2019 to allow biological males to compete against you, What is your response to that?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat people should realize\u00a0that a lot of biological females\u00a0have missed out on making it to\u00a0meets that really matter, like states and regionals, and the\u00a0transgender athletes have taken\u00a0spots on the podium that\u00a0belong to biological females,\u201d Smith stated. \u201cWe train for so many days a week, so many hours to be able to be the best in our state and the best in our region, and these biological males are just taking it away from us and we really deserve it.<\/p>\n<p>Holcom added, \u201cTitle IX\u00a0was designed to ensure that girls\u00a0like Alanna have a fair and level playing\u00a0field, have a chance to showcase their talents, to be champions, and frankly, to earn those college scholarships. So we want to move forward and we\u00a0want to see women\u2019s sports protected across\u00a0the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mitchell, who was ranked the fastest biological girl in Connecticut in the 55m<strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>lost four girls\u2019 state championships and two all-New England awards. She recalled, \u201cI knew that I was the fastest girl here, one of the fastest in the state. I remembered all my training and everything I had been taught on how to maximize my performance \u2026 I thought of all the times that other girls have lost. I could feel the adrenaline in my blood and hope that wafted from me. That just possibly, I could win this. Then, the gun went off. And I lost.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Smith, whose father is MLB Hall of Famer relief pitcher Lee Smith, won the 400m at the 2019 outdoor New England Regional \u2028Championships as a freshman and finished second in the 200m at the New England Regional \u2028Championships. \u00a0She stated, \u201cEven before I get to the track, I already know that I\u2019m not going to \u2028get first place, or maybe even second place . . . I know that no matter how hard I work, I won\u2019t be able to have the top spot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Barr had stated in March 2020:\u00a0\u201cUnder CIAC\u2019s interpretation of Title IX \u2026 schools may not account for the real physiological differences between men and women.\u00a0Instead, schools must have certain biological males \u2014 namely, those who publicly identify as female \u2014 compete against biological females.\u00a0In so doing, CIAC deprives those women of the single-sex athletic competitions that are one of the marquee accomplishments of Title IX.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
