(Stephen Maturen\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/34923747\/adam-zimmer-son-former-vikings-coach-mike-zimmer-dies-38\">ESPN<\/a>:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Adam Zimmer joined the Vikings\u2019 coaching staff when his father was hired as head coach in 2014. He served as linebackers coach for six seasons before being promoted to co-defensive coordinator in 2020. He was fired along with his father and the majority of the coaching staff following the 2021 season.<\/p>\n<p>Zimmer began his coaching career in 2006 with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/no\/new-orleans-saints\">New Orleans Saints<\/a>\u00a0as an assistant linebackers coach. He held a similar position with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/kc\/kansas-city-chiefs\">Kansas City Chiefs<\/a>\u00a0from 2010-12. He joined his father with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/cin\/cincinnati-bengals\">Cincinnati Bengals<\/a>\u00a0as an assistant defensive backs coach in 2013, during Mike Zimmer\u2019s final season there as a defensive coordinator, before moving with him to the Vikings.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Most recently, Zimmer worked with the Bengals as an offensive analyst.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Adam Zimmer, son of former Vikings coach Mike Zimmer and an NFL assistant coach for 16 years, died on Monday at the age of 38.
