In the speech, Knowles gave examples of how he believes the legacy media and institutional elites use the negative term to silence views that oppose their narrative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter \u2018racist,\u2019 \u2018conspiracy theorist\u2019 is probably the single worst thing that you can be called in our society,\u201d Knowles said. \u201cThe minute you get labeled a conspiracy theorist, pretty much everything that you have to say ceases to be taken seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire host then went into how so-called conspiracy theories during the early days of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/covid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">COVID<\/a> pandemic turned out to have some truth. Knowles mentioned that COVID originating in a Chinese lab in Wuhan was quickly dismissed as a ridiculous idea by the experts on the pandemic and the establishment media, but then months later, the experts admitted that the virus most likely came from the Wuhan lab. U.S. health experts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/scientists-believed-coronavirus-leaked-from-wuhan-lab-but-top-u-s-official-warned-against-debate-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly<\/a> did not want the lab leak theory to be discussed by the media so as not to harm \u201cinternational harmony.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Knowles gave more examples of conspiracy theories that have appeared to come true regarding gain-of-function research, COVID vaccines, \u201cstructural shenanigans in the 2020 election,\u201d and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/big-tech-worked-closely-with-the-fbi-and-dhs-to-police-disinformation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Big Tech censorship<\/a> at the will of the federal government. The conservative talk show host also reminded his audience how the legacy media peddled the Trump-Russia conspiracy following the 2016 election, but just moved on after the theory <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/clinton-campaign-just-made-stuff-up-about-trump-russia-former-fbi-intel-chief-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">couldn\u2019t be proven<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe true function of the label \u2018conspiracy theorist\u2019 is not to separate truth from fantasy, but rather to simply get dissidents to shut up,\u201d the host of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/show\/the-michael-knowles-show\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Michael Knowles Show<\/a>\u201d commented, adding that the Left\u2019s accusations of \u201cconspiracy theorist\u201d often \u201cdestroys a man\u2019s label in the public square.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn an age such as ours, the difference between a conspiracy theory and the truth is often not the difference between delusion and reality,\u201d Knowles concluded. \u201cAs our liberal ruling class has shown so clearly over the past few years, in an age such as ours, the real difference between a conspiracy theory and the truth is about three to six months.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Daily Wire host Michael Knowles spoke at the University of Kentucky Tuesday night, delving into the world of \u201cconspiracy theories,\u201d or at least what the Left deems them to be.
