To that end, we request Twitter provide information regarding its previous leaders\u2019 decision to limit information that may have affected the 2020 election.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Just after the Twitter deal was announced, Musk <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1519073003933515776\">tweeted<\/a> in April that \u201csuspending the Twitter account of a major news organization for publishing a truthful story was obviously incredibly inappropriate.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence,\u201d Musk <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1585619322239561728\">tweeted<\/a> last Thursday, adding, \u201cTwitter cannot become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences!\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The <i>New York Post<\/i> reported in October 2020 that emails from the laptop showed evidence of shady business dealings tied to <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/hunter-biden-criminal-fbi-investigation-whistleblower-ukraine-china\">Ukraine<\/a> and <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/grassley-johnson-send-prosecutor-evidence-hunter-biden\">China<\/a>. When the publication attempted to post the articles on its Twitter account, the social media company said that doing so violated its rule against sharing &#8220;hacked&#8221; materials. <\/p>\n<p>The day after Twitter blocked the <i>New York Post&#8217;s<\/i> mid-October stories on Hunter Biden, Twitter&#8217;s then-CEO Jack Dorsey <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jack\/status\/1317081843443912706?s=20\">tweeted<\/a><\/u>, &#8220;Straight blocking of URLs was wrong, and we updated our policy and enforcement to fix.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>But for weeks, the company continued to lock the<i> New York Post&#8217;s <\/i>Twitter account, insisting the outlet delete its tweets on the younger Biden. <\/p>\n<p>Facebook also <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2020\/oct\/30\/facebook-leak-reveals-policies-restricting-new-york-post-biden-story\">limited<\/a><\/u> the dissemination of the<i> New York Post <\/i>story. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe open communication and access to information is a fundamental principle for any free people, and the American people deserve to know the reason Twitter suppressed or censored the Biden laptop story shortly before the 2020 election,\u201d Comer told Musk, adding that \u201cCommittee Republicans are concerned Twitter inappropriately censored the Hunter Biden laptop story to influence the 2020 Presidential Election.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The House Republicans asked Musk to hand over \u201call documents and communications to, from, between and among Twitter and Twitter employees related to the October 2020 <i>New York Post<\/i> articles on Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop\u201d by Nov. 11 and also asked him to provide all of the records between Twitter and the FBI or any other U.S. law enforcement or intelligence agency related to the laptop. <\/p>\n<p>Comer also asked for access to \u201call documents and communications regarding the decision to censor or suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story on Twitter\u2019s platform.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Dorsey <u><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.c-span.org\/video\/?478048-1\/facebook-twitter-ceos-testify-regulating-social-media-content\">testified<\/a><\/u> before the Senate in November 2020, after Joe Biden defeated then-President Donald Trump. <\/p>\n<p><b><a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/b> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe made a quick interpretation, using no other evidence, that the materials in the article were obtained through hacking, and according to our policy, we blocked them from being spread,&#8221;
