He started off his reign at the company by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-elon-musk-officially-takes-over-twitter-as-sale-is-now-final-top-execs-fired-report-says\">firing<\/a> the company\u2019s top executives and lawyers. Reports later claimed that he was eyeing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/elon-musk-set-to-unleash-the-purge-at-twitter-after-request-made-to-managers-report\">cutting 50%<\/a> of the company\u2019s 7,500 person workforce. Now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-11375515\/Elon-Musk-confirms-hell-new-Twitter-CEO-team-finalizes-plans-layoff-25-percent.html\">reports<\/a> suggest that the number of employees who will get the axe has dropped all the way down to 25%.<\/p>\n<p>All of this comes as Musk is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-elon-musk-to-start-charging-users-high-monthly-fee-for-verification-report-says\">reportedly<\/a> set to start charging users $20 per month to be verified on the platform in what is expected to be a new package the company will offer.<\/p>\n<p>The Verge\u00a0reported that the \u201cdirective is to change Twitter Blue, the company\u2019s optional, $4.99 a month subscription that unlocks additional features, into a more expensive subscription that also verifies users,\u201d according to sources and documents the publication accessed.<\/p>\n<p>While pricing is subject to change, the plan is to charge $19.99 for the new Twitter Blue.<\/p>\n<p>The report said that people with existing verified accounts will have 90 days to sign up for the new $19.99 package or they will lose their verification badge.<\/p>\n<p>The report said that Musk has informed employees that they must meet the deadline to launch the new product by the end of the first week in November or they will be fired.<\/p>\n<p>Musk tweeted on Sunday evening, \u201cThe whole verification process is being revamped right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/musk-faces-widespread-backlash-over-his-new-plans-for-twitter-a-terrible-idea-on-so-many-levels\">Musk Faces Widespread Backlash Over His New Plans For Twitter: \u2018A Terrible Idea On So Many Levels\u2019<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Twitter CEO Elon Musk became \u201cthe sole director\u201d of Twitter on Monday after he moved to disband the social media company\u2019s board of directors.
