Nancy Mace, R-S.C., ranking member on the Subcommittee on Civil Rights &#038; Civil Liberties, sent a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/republicans-oversight.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/HHS-letter-gender-affirming-care.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>letter<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra raising concerns about the agency\u2019s work to \u201cpromote life altering changes to young children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/transgender-women-must-register-for-the-draft-but-not-transgender-men\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Transgender Women Must Register For the Draft But Not Transgender Men<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI write to conduct oversight of the federal government\u2019s use of taxpayer funds to promote radical gender ideology and the medical transition of children using pharmaceutical or surgical interventions,\u201d the letter said. \u201cThe Biden Administration appears to be encouraging any child, who does not conform to perceptions of masculine or feminine stereotypes, to alter his or her body through potentially irreversible medical or surgical intervention. Instead of funding these life-altering drugs and procedures, our government should be promoting policies to protect vulnerable children \u2013 who cannot consent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>HHS is the latest but not the only federal agency to come under scrutiny for its transgender policies toward children. As The Center Square previously\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecentersquare.com\/national\/u-s-state-department-pushes-gender-transition-for-kids-as-states-consider-bans\/article_c7cae25c-48ab-11ed-82bc-d753e28c7232.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>reported<\/strong><\/a>, The U.S. State Department\u2019s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) Strategic Plan also came under Congressional scrutiny for including taxpayer-funded \u201cgender transition care\u201d for employees as well as their children.<\/p>\n<p>Mace said that other western nations have raised concerns about the transgender drugs and surgeries, but that the Biden administration has gone all in.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"https:\/\/thepoliticalinsider.com\/colorado-baker-back-in-court-this-time-to-fight-ruling-over-gender-transition-cake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Colorado Baker Back In Court, This Time To Fight Ruling Over Gender Transition Cake<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"subscribe\" class=\"email-signup inarticle\">\n<h4>Support Conservative Voices!<\/h4>\n<h5><strong>Sign up to receive the latest<\/strong> political news, insight, and commentary delivered directly to your inbox.<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<p>The letter explicitly requests information to what extent taxpayer dollars are being used to fund these drugs and surgeries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHHS, under the guise of \u2018gender affirming care,\u2019 now promotes medical interventions such as drugs designed to block puberty, opposite-sex hormones to transition children \u2013 both of which do not have FDA approval for use in children\u2019s gender care \u2013 and even surgical interventions to remove or alter the gender specific anatomy,\u201d the letter said. \u201cHHS also falsely promotes some of these interventions as \u2018reversible\u2019 or \u2018partially reversible\u2019 despite potential, serious long-term physical and mental health risks, complications, and regret. The American medical institutions simply do not have enough data to understand outcomes.
