Prior to the bill\u2019s passage, MAID eligibility was based on having a \u201cgrievous and irremediable medical condition,\u201d according to a report from the Canadian government on the practice.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Creighton School of Medicine professor Charles Camosy said Wednesday on \u201cTucker Carlson Tonight\u201d the bill would allow \u201cmature minors\u201d to be euthanized by state doctors without the consent of their parents.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Camosy argued that the MAID practice exists for <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/08\/15\/norway-euthanizes-beloved-walrus-named-freya-because-of-crowds\/\">several groups already.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got the homeless, we talked about that last time. The poor. The disabled. Those with chronic pain. And then right before coming on,\u00a0I researched the physicians group in Quebec that wants to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/prosecutor-mom-charged-with-murder-in-newborn-babys-death\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\">kill newborn infants.<\/a>\u00a0That\u2019s what\u2019s coming next,\u201d he told host Tucker Carlson.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is what happens when autonomy just goes nuts.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/canada-assisted-suicide-02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/canada-assisted-suicide-02.jpg\" alt=\"Bed\" class=\"wp-image-24437816\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/canada-assisted-suicide-02.jpg?quality=75&#038;strip=all&#038;w=1535 1536w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/canada-assisted-suicide-02.jpg?quality=75&#038;strip=all 1024w, https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/canada-assisted-suicide-02.jpg?quality=75&#038;strip=all&#038;w=512 512w\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Canada is expanding its assisted suicide law to include the mentally ill. <\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">Getty Images\/iStockphoto<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The medical humanities professor said<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/supreme-court-turns-away-challenge-biden-federal-vaccine-mandate-healthcare-workers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0health care has been \u201chyper-secularized\u201d<\/a>\u00a0in recent years and is based on \u201ccost-benefit analysis.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Camosy said <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/08\/11\/disturbing-experts-troubled-by-canadas-euthanasia-laws\/\">he doesn\u2019t think<\/a> this type of law would come into effect in the U.S., but added doctors need to focus on saving the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/video\/6146191111001\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\">lives of their patients<\/a>. \u201cWhat we need to do, is support in whatever way [we] can, health care that is about caring, not killing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a coalition of people coming up with a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/10\/08\/brussels-bombing-survivor-shanti-de-corte-23-dead-by-euthanasia\/\">brand new medical school<\/a>, the Padre Pio School of Medicine in 2026, that is going to do this very clearly, very ably,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have to get off the couch and do something about this for those of us that see the writing on the wall here,\u201d he concluded.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Oregon was the first state in the United States to approve medically assisted suicide, with a law going into effect in 1997. California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, New Jersey, New Mexico, Vermont, Washington state and Washington, D.C., have approved similar laws, all with residency requirements.
