McKay also<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2022\/09\/dont-look-up-adam-mckay-climate-emergency-fund-donation-joins-board-of-directors-1235122485\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> joined the group\u2019s board<\/a> following the donation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Climate Emergency Fund is unique in their commitment to funding, civil, non-violent, disruptive activism,\u201d the Oscar-winning filmmaker said. \u201cWe are past time for politeness, past time for baby steps. I am proud to support their efforts and call on others to join me in doing everything we can to stave off the rapidly worsening impact of the climate crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In recent weeks we\u2019ve seen a wave of attacks on beloved paintings funded by radical organizations.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Two protesters threw mashed potatoes on Claude Monet\u2019s \u201cGrainstacks\u201d at the Barberini Museum in Germany.<\/li>\n<li>Two \u201cJust Stop Oil\u201d protesters entered London\u2019s National Gallery and splashed Vincent van Gogh\u2019s \u201cSunflowers\u201d with Heinz tomato soup.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Protesters glued themselves to the frames of two classic works \u2013 da Vinci\u2019s \u201cThe Last Supper\u201d at London\u2019s Royal Academy of Arts and John Constable\u2019s \u201cThe Hay Wain\u201d in the National Gallery.<\/p>\n<p>The latter happened <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2022\/oct\/18\/just-stop-oil-van-gogh-national-portrait-gallery-climate-emergency-fund\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">courtesy of the Climate Emergency Fund.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore protests are coming, this is a rapidly growing movement and the next two weeks will be, I hope, the most intense period of climate action to date, so buckle up\u201d said Margaret Klein Salamon, executive director of the Climate Emergency Fund.<\/p>\n<p>So far, the vandals haven\u2019t damaged the paintings in question, although the frames of the art works in question had to be repaired. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/world\/radical-climate-activists-target-priceless-art-experts-warn-vandals-only-hurting-cause\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">worst may be yet to come.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In each of these instances, the works themselves were not destroyed, having been encased in protective glass. But the demonstrations call attention to an alarming new trend. And it raises concerns that priceless works of art could actually be destroyed as more radical protesters try to up the ante in their activism.<\/p>\n<p>McKay isn\u2019t the only Hollywood power player pushing these efforts.<\/p>\n<p>Abigail Disney, the far-left activist and heiress, also donated to the Climate Emergency Fund this year to the tune of $200,000.<\/p>\n<p>McKay\u2019s activism previously involved donating to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/conservatives-culture-war-movies\/\"> progressive causes<\/a> and slipping messages into his Hollywood product. His 2010 film \u201cThe Other Guys\u201d wrapped with an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/the-other-guys-credit-sequence-2011-4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anti-Wall Street screed.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>He wrote and directed 2018\u2019s \u201cVice,\u201d an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/vice-review\/\">unvarnished attack<\/a> on both Vice President Dick Cheney and the GOP in toto.<\/p>\n<p>The director\u2019s 2021 film \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodintoto.com\/dont-look-up-media-climate-change\/\">Don\u2019t Look Up<\/a>\u201d offered a thinly veiled attack on so-called \u201cclimate deniers\u201d and earned four Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Artists against art.
