Hochul made the comments at a press gaggle Friday afternoon. The remark was met with a flurry of backlash from conservatives, who pointed out that she was anything but.<\/p>\n<p>NY1 State House reporter Zack Fink shared the comments in a tweet Friday. \u201cWith polls showing a new dynamic in the race for Governor, @KathyHochul is asked if she has any regrets, or would have done anything differently,\u201d Fink reported. \u201c\u2018I am the underdog in this race,\u2019 she says. Adds that she has only been in the Governor\u2019s job a \u2018short time.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">With polls showing a new dynamic in the race for Governor, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KathyHochul?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@KathyHochul<\/a> is asked if she has any regrets, or would have done anything differently. \u201cI am the underdog in this race,\u201d she says. This is my 14th election. I always run like an underdog up until the very last minute,\u201d Hochul said at an event in August, via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/poll-hochul-takes-early-14-point-lead-against-gubernatorial-challenger-lee-zeldin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBS News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI always run like I\u2019m an underdog,\u201d she told reporters earlier this month, via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2022\/10\/18\/poll-hochul-leads-zeldin-4-points-00062302\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m a sports fan. Everybody knows that. Always run with that underdog mentality. According to The New York Times, by June of this year, Hochul had raised more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/06\/24\/nyregion\/hochul-donors-money-campaign.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$34 million<\/a>\u00a0in donations; between July and October, she raised another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2022\/10\/08\/nyregion\/hochul-zeldin-fund-raising.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$11 million<\/a>, and currently boasts some $10.9 million in cash on hand.<\/p>\n<p>Hochul also sports endorsements from some of the top Democrats in the country, including: President Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, House Democratic Caucus Chair Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Chairman Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, New York Reps. Carolyn Maloney and Jerry Nadler, former Rep. Charlie Rangel, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, film director Steven Spielberg, The New York Times, and dozens of state lawmakers, organizations, and unions. She held an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\/news\/governor-hochul-majority-leader-schumer-and-micron-welcome-president-biden-central-new-york\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">event<\/a> with Biden and New York Senator Chuck Schumer on Thursday, and will rally with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityandstateny.com\/politics\/2022\/10\/hillary-clinton-be-special-guest-hochul-rally\/379002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Clinton<\/a> on November 3.<\/p>\n<p>Hochul has also led in every single public poll with a single exception: a poll by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/new-poll-shows-zeldin-with-a-small-lead-over-kathy-hochul-in-deep-blue-new-york\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Co\/efficient<\/a> conducted last week showing Zeldin with a lead of just 0.3 percentage points, 45.6%-45.3%.
